How to kill a young Giant Fuyu Persimmon tree in the desert of Utah. What not to do video.

July 4th update on year old persimmon. First step to killing a young Persimmon is to plant it in compost. The second way is to overwater it. The third is described in this video. When you try to change things in 100 degree weather..... bad things happen.
In short, plant your persimmon in a well draining soil which means sandy loam, not clay, not compost, not silt..... sandy loam. Do it at the beginning of your planting and water it when it looks like it is struggling in the heat, with good draining soil you don't have to worry about over watering it.

Should you have kept them partial shade in their pots until autumn? I'm in 9a and they suggest planting persimmon in January.

Yes, don't plant in the summer for persimmons. Fall is best I would do it in Oct or Nov before it goes dormant. In Jan it should be dormant and wont establish a good root system before spring. Or just wait until spring to plant.

Did it work? I over watered my fuyu trees too and the leaves are wilting. I planted it in August and it’s doing good! I really want to save it.

It did not work, all of them died but I didn't water them enough, I currently have 7 persimmons that are all growing well right now and I watered almost every day, next year I will water more deeply and less often so the roots will go deeper in the ground. This year is the third year getting them to work here and as of right now they are working. Thanks for the interest.

:) But I want to have my cake and eat it too. Ultimately I was able to get 7 persimmon trees to grow, just took some time and love.... and shade..... and water.
