Kishimoto is removing many plot holes. Like: (Maybe a spoiler but it already happened in shippuden) You see when Zetsu stabbed Madara everyone was mad about how he could stab madara. But in recent chapters it had been revealed that otsutsuki can erase their chakras. Which make their chakra invisible. As Zetsu was Kaguya otsutsuki's living karma he would have also had this ability. In recent chapter kawaki also erased his chakra. It will also explain how kaguya caught ishhiki off-guard.

Moreover, Sasuke's observation and deduction skills are very high, but let's not underestimate Shikamaru here. The guy has an IQ of 200 after all. And throughout the franchise, Shikamaru came up with excelent analyses and strategies. But in this scene, I bet that he was just an extremely worried father, and he could not think clearly and coldly. It is my interpretation, at least.

Isshiki's ability is simple yet troublesome and his taijutsu coupled with those rods is mad though. Shikadai's collar can be removed using the fourth hokage's technique or Sauske's eyes. Naruto being able to recognize the fighting style is epic.

After this episode, I have found that I am able to figure out more about the opening scene in episode 1 and why Kawaki is shown to be evil. Isshiki Otsutsuki most likely finds another way to control Kawaki (his vessel) as a puppet. This is of course just speculation and I am sure when the timeskip eventually occurs, the beginning scene of the whole series will make more sense.

If you think about it the only two who can handle a 1v1 Vs Jigen/ishiki are suigetsu cause he can liquify his body and Jigen is good at hand to hand combat and restoring the rods to thier original size and suigetsu is immune to them so it will give him a major advantage and the other person is the ramen guy for obvious reasons ☺️
