NobleKnits omg this is the first time I got a reply back thank you!!!! Can u tell me how to get circular knitting needles correct brand or set wise I want to get them right because Michael’s say size 8 but 59 inches so I m super confused beginner knitter
@nobleknits5 жыл бұрын
@@nekofiercewarrior20 Hi! I'm glad to help! The circular knitting needles I used are Addi Turbos size US 8. They are not sold at Michaels only at yarn shops and on Amazon. Here's a link to them: amzn.to/2Xp8pzZ I used circular needles because of the large number of stitches towards the end of the project. You can use plastic, bamboo, or metal needles - whichever you prefer. They just should be size US 8. Now, as for the circular needle length, I chose 40" because it's a lot easier to manage than 59 inches. Anything longer than 32 inches will work with this project. You just need to try different lengths and see what you prefer. Keep me posted on your progress and happy knitting! 😀

I am a crocheter and wanted to learn to knit. I knitted a few small things but they did not inspire me. Then I found THIS VIDEO last year (Sept 2023), and you said I could do this! I can make this! And for some reason, I believed you. And guess what? I made my first shawl (with many mistakes in it, but that's OK!). I wore it all winter and brought it on a trip to Ireland. I have been knitting almost daily for a year now and have so many projects I want to make! THANK YOU for all the encouragement, and for believing in me.

I made this and it was great practice for learning to switch the way I held my needles. I would recommend to anyone making this shawl that they use a yarn that only has around 3 different colors in it. I used a yarn with about 7 colors in it and it got a little crazy looking at the end. Thanks for the pattern!

I just started knitting and want to learn the different stitches there are and you made it so easy. I did have trouble learning how to add a stitch but now can do it. I've seen some videos on here about teaching knitting and some go so fast it's hard to catch up and learn anything but you make your video at the right speed for us beginners to learn. It's a great feeling when a person learns something they thought they could never do and builds up one's confidence that they can do this also, once again thank you so much!

Life changer. I just watched your shawl video twice while working on my very first knitted sock. YAY! (2.25" , 9" circulars. OUch! :-). Great video and so glad it's continental style. This will help! I have a free Learn to Knit course that shows you step-by-step how to knit and hold the needles using a very beginner method: nobleknits.ck.page/cb0f6b75c7

Such an excellent video. I’m almost finished with my first shawl. Easy and I love the slanting stripes. No stitch counting after the cast-on makes it easy to watch TV or a movie or have a conversation while knitting. Thanks so much!

I used this pattern and loved how simple it was! I decided to shake it up and alternate rows of purl and knit because I liked the look better BUT I did end up having to do an increase every row because it started to grow lopsided, and I don't know if it's the yarn I'm using, my gauge, or the purl-knit alternation. Either way, I think my shawl looks great and I'm getting ready to add a crochet border soon! Thanks for the great pattern!

Hi Tami, I'm so glad you found me! You are at an advantage being a crocheter first. Check out my tutorial on Continental knitting, you hold your yarn and needles very much the same way you hold crochet. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmaVgKqhpMeHhsU Keep me posted on your progress! 😀

I found u some time back, I love the way you teach, knitting is my neimis😣 but I am learning and I think that I am going to love it as much as I love my hook. Ty for sharing your experience, tips, and tricks for knitting. I am going to keep at it. But it is much slower than crocheting. Lol. But, I have only been trying to knit for a year. Don't laugh lol I feel really stupid. And two months ago to the day, it finally clicked. Lmao well that is my horrible story about teaching myself to knit.

Hi Nicole, thanks for sharing your knitting struggle! Since I was also a crocheter first, making slower progress on knitting was a challenge for me as well. I also found it frustrating when I made a mistake in my knitting and needed to rip back. 😭Crochet is so much more forgiving when i comes to making mistakes and ripping back. However, stick with it because both needlecrafts provide amazing results and soon you'll be shocked at how much faster you knit. 😀

Thank you so much for this! I'm a knitter of 20 plus years and I was looking for a mindless knit. This is perfect! For some reason, the older I get, the more mindless knitting I want lol The yarn does all the work for you! The Shawl in cake is beautiful but I'm making mine out of Noro Kureyon ☺

Thank you for this video, it might be a year old but it's still getting used ☺️ I just got the needles and wool in the mail and started two days ago. I couldn't find any shawl in a cake colors I liked on amazon.ca so I bought Lion brand shawl in a ball. It has the same yardage. I have about 55 stitches on the needles so far and it looks beautiful already.

Thanks for this tutorial. Such an easy pattern! I am working on one for my mom for Christmas. I will say though, this yarn is not easy to work with. It is so tiny and delicate!
@nobleknits5 жыл бұрын
Hi Shannon...it is a thin yarn but you just need to pretend it isn't. It's actually much more durable than it feels so just grab the yarn, tell it you're the boss, and keep on knitting.

Great video. New knitter here. I've recently ripped out my basic sock project 14 or 20 times and just watched your video. I think I'll try your shawl patter first. :-) You made it look easy so.......here goes!
@nobleknits5 жыл бұрын
OMG...yes...socks are too much for a new knitter. You need a few successes under your belt before you tackle those. As a new knitter, one of the benefits of knitting a project like this shawl is that you'll learn how to stitches work and what they look like. It makes it A LOT easier to recognize a mistake when you try to tackle a more difficult project. I'm so happy to hear you picked up knitting and I wish you lots of success! 😀
