THIS! I’ve been searching for a basic pattern that I could knit quickly and give as winter b day gifts. This is the one! I can in-vision these in lots of colors and even a crocheted picot edging. Thank you for presenting such a pattern!

Im a lefty, but crochet right handed. When i was about 8, one of my neighbors tried teaching me how to knit right, but I got nothing and had enough, haha. Now, at age 40 something, I not only do right handed crochet, but also play the guitar that way (poorly, but I can't change it to play with my left hand). I have some issues now with my left hand, so maybe just holding the yarn will be better for me. Thank you for putting this, much appreciated! ❤

Keep in mind tho not all the same weight yarn is equal. For example, some #4 worsted weight yarns can be thicker and some can be thinner.

Thank you for your fab tutorial. Two questions if I may. The shawl your daughter was showcasing, what was the actual name of the lion Brand landscapes yarn? Lastly did you use size 8mm needles as the stitches looks tighter on the video? Thank you.

I learned crochet from sitting across from my mother when I was 8. Same way you learned knitting. My great aunt taught me basics of knitting and purling when I was little and learned right-handed. She taught me the loop cast on. Yesterday at 60 yo, I learned the long tail cast-on! Guess old dogs can still learn! I am going to try to knit left-handed and see if I am any better at it or faster at it. 🤞🏻. My goal is to finally get the hang of it and maybe one day do cables!

I was so confused by other tutorials and honestly didn't even realize I would start on the wrong side when doing a stitch....My hands also felt so tense and unnatural, leading me to pull on the yarn too tight. This tutorial makes it easier to follow for me as a lefty with bad eye-hand coordination.

All I’ve learned from this video is that knitting makes me want to stab myself in the eyes with the needles. No matter how slow or tight or loose I do it the stitches fall off the needle.

You’re an angel! I learned to crochet from right handed tutorials, and I figured I could learn to knit that way too. It just wasn’t clicking, so I had to search for a left handed tutorial. Thank you so much!

Help I think I am doing something wrong? On the second row , I am purling into the stitch that was YO in the row before. Is this correct ? Making an odd stitch . YO, Slip stitch, K2, then pass the slipped stitch over the 2k or 2 P as the row indicates - correct ? I guess what I am asking is this: is is correct to be knitting or purling into the YO ?

Hi! I am new to knitting. I started this a while ago and have picked it back up. I made a horrible mistake and I’m not sure how to fix it. I’m knitting on cable needles and about 1/4 way through. How do I pull out the last two rows?

Hello, I am using an 8 ply cotton so it is thinner than your yarn. How do I change the starting number of stitches? Newbie here. Thank you

Hello, great tutorial for beginer. But on the longest side (the longest part, that should be straight) i somehow created a "bump". Can anyone help please? Did i make any common beginer mistake? :) ty!

Your video is amazing! As a right handed knitter who is trying to help left-handed knitters I appreciated the clear and succinct style. We discovered my sister has been knitting twisted stitches all these years, which is why she always had trouble with her scarves, twirling and tension being frustrating. :-) clockwise only works as a direction if you’re thinking of the clock from the right angle!
@johannaenglish439017 күн бұрын
Since she sees the world in reverse ‘clockwise’ depending on the perspective of the needle was being an issue to remember. Saying ‘between and around the back’ helped.

Ive started knitting again and been seeing everyone use there finger to hold the tension of the string while wrapping it around the needle. but Im right handed and use my right hand to wrap the yarn around the needle like you do with your left. its much more comfortable for me but i was wondering why my knitting looked different than others. Now I'm remembering that its because my mom was left handed so that probably why I knit that way!! xD

Hi I Ike the way you explained the different stitch to knitted yarn. Bit different for the UK, as our yarns are in 2ply = Vereine, 4ply a bit thicker, DK - uses a 4mm needle, there’s still thicker one but I only use DK and 4ply . Regards, “ The Midnight Owl”

Hi Nancy Queen! I'm a beginner and only have needles that are about 10 inches long. Can I break this up into two sections and seam together? 2 pieces that have 25 stitches casted on each?

I can relate to the comment about feeling tense while learning continental. I decided to pick this style up so I can go easier on the hands and neck. Reality: I’m as tense as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs when I practice continental 😂 Several times I noticed - and felt- myself gripping the yarn and needles for dear life. Hear me now, believe me later, I am not giving up. I shall prevail! 🌻

That’s how my ant taught me to knit when I was little and I’ve been knitting this way since then.. when I watched other people knitting I see how many ways different ways there are to do it and wandered if the way I do it is wrong but it’s the best way for me :)

I learned to crochet first. I was used to holding my yarn in the left hand. So when i tried to knit by throwing or wrapping my yarn from the right hand, I could not do it. I finally decided i was going to hold my yarn like i had done for years in my left hand and scooped the yarn instead. I didnt even know that i was continental knitting. It is so much faster.
