great explanations! This is probably the most clearly explained Icord cast on video! Thank you . too bad there is blur on some parts of the video - speed incorrect (lag?)

Thanks for watching! Oh gosh, yes, what's going on with our video there? We'll put this on the list for a reshoot!

This technique was confusing to me but the explanation at the beginning really helped me understand better. Great video!

Instructions are pretty clear. Only complaint would be to use a different color yarn that stands out more or close up more as it was a bit hard to see.

Good idea! We'll keep that in mind for future videos, thanks!

Agree, good instructions! Also, a heavier weight yarn would also be easier to see. Thanks for the great videos.

Lovely! Can you say a word about the gauge of I-Cord compared to the gauge of the stitch above it? Garter is wider than stockinette, and clearly wider than ribbing. How would you account for that in deciding how much I-Cord to work to prevent the edging from puckering or splaying, depending on what will be worked above it?

Great question, Andrea! Since your I-cord stitches are sideways and stockinette is taller than garter stitch, it should balance out - if you swatch and find that your knitted fabric is working up wider than the cast-on, you could cast on extra stitches for the I-cord and then work a decrease row as you begin your knitted fabric. For the Byssa pattern that we show at the end of the video, we have the I-cord cast on going into a 1x2 twisted rib with no reduction in stitch count. Happy knitting!

It looks like it doesn't curl? And how stretchy is it?
@BrooklynTweed_Official Жыл бұрын
Hello! This cast on is great for keeping edges from curling! It's not particularly stretchy, so better suited for sweater hems & wider necklines rather than small circumferences like hats or socks.

Is it possible to do the I-cord all around, like bottom, sides and then to top (finishing). Please show how. Hope you see what I mean. Knitting I-cord all around the project as you work on the project all in one go. Thanks

Hi Fernando! Here's a video I found on working I-cord up the sides of your work - you can combine this with an I-cord cast on and bind off to cover all 4 sides: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b525mqakjadnlZo Happy knitting!

@@BrooklynTweed_Official thank you. I'd love to see a video of it all being done in one go. I am a very visual learner.
