I have just finished my 11th shawl with this pattern. Love this pattern. It taught me a lot. I also mixed my yarns using a complimentary color for the yarn overs

Just bought my Red Heart Soft Essentials Yarn yesterday! I saw that Michael's was selling Soft Essentials Yarn STRIPES!!!!! Love stripes so much and I always keep wanting to knit without loss of interest to see what the other color will look like as I progress through the Knit-along! Btw you made the Garter Tab section SO EASY to do. I find most tutorials on Garter Tabs are too hard to accomplish because the quality is low so garter ridges are hard to see and the knitting seems tighter alot. Now I can finally make my first Shawl with a Garter Tab beginning! Thanks Marly bird! Can't wait to post a picture of my finished Beachy colored Shawl so you can check out my work!

I really appreciate this. Red Heart patterns are great, but a little daunting! It's so nice to have some step by step help on a project like this. Thanks so much. Wonderful work! You're so talented. I'm still working on my knitting and I don't do it very often, (I'm a highschool freshman and started when I was 11) but this makes everything a lot easier.

Love this video! I learned lots and you made it look easy. I did not plan on starting over because I thought it looked pretty good--- after you said it again I decided to start over and it looked much much better and I understood and worked faster-- I suggest this for anyone who is doing some of these stitches for the first time!

This is my first KAL with a video. Marly you are awesome. I am not a new knitter but thoroughly enjoyed this and love how you did the line by line instructions for everyone. I did the same thing earlier today but not as pretty as yours. Can't wait for next week to start the next section. You are perfect for teaching everyone and make it simple and easy to understand. Great job! :)

Just so you know, I updated the Line by Line about 30 minutes ago. Take a look and make sure you have the most recent one. It has two tables. One is a breakdown of the pattern as written; the other is a breakdown of the pattern as I taught it in the video. If that doesn't make sense make sure you watch the Q&A video I did trying to explain it.

Hi Marly, I just have been watching your video and love the way you explain everything. As I noticed on the sleeve of the yarn, they are 120m long, so I need 3 balls of 120m each if I am right? As I can't see the video's 2, 3 and 4, I guess you haven't made them yet? Just asking as I like to download them, so I can watch them off line. I am going away with the caravan for a few months and am not always able to get on the internet. As soon as I know how much yarn I kneed I will go to the shop and buy it and also the circle needles. :) Kind regards Anneke.

Hello, I love all you're videos, I would love to make the shawl but with a smaller yarn for the summer like sock yarn, or sport yarn or DK is it possible?
@MarlyBird7 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. You will want a smaller gauge I think. You will just do more sections than indicated in the pattern. As long as you keep an odd number of stitches on either side of the center markers you will be good with any of the stitch patterns used in the sections :)

Your videos are excellent and easy to follow but I have had to restart the project numerous times and can't move on because my stitch markers keep getting caught in my work!! I have sent away for new markers that I found on Etsy, I have never used them before, I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem?
@MarlyBird7 жыл бұрын
+Karol Jelbert one thing you could do is...Just use 1 marker...And place it between the two middle stitches. Then, the marker won't get caught in the YO. You will just have to remember that you moved the marker do you would work until 1 st before marker, yo, k1, slip marker, k1, yo...

Hi i have a question. I followed the pattern and your check off list, and i was wondering when i finished the last line of the shawl, it doesn't look big enough. Do i go back and repeat line 35- through stage 4 again to make it bigger? Is that okay. The photo of the pattern looks bigger.

You can absolutely repeat a section to make it even larger.
