Thank you for the demostration, very helpful. For all those who complain about the speed and for how she holds the yarn ,please learn how to knit and purl first and then look out for fancy stitches! And for those who think that their way of knitting is better, guess what, everybody has their own way to do so!There is no need to be rude. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Cheers from Italy

I have to agree that it is fast, and the way she rapped around kind of confused me. But it's just a honest opinion for her to be better, and no one should be rude about it in the comments. KZbin is doing better now without hater writing all these hate msg...

I do not understand why everyone is complaining about the speed, she is clearly knitting in purl and in regular knit stitch.. one by one... alternating.. this video is set up to explain how to use the moss stitch pattern, not to show people how to knit.

Excellent video instruction for one who already knows basic k & p! I was able to take brief notes. Using a die (dice) works to remind me which row I’m on when my work gets too large. Thank you for the tutorial!

Hi Donna! I did some search and apparently they are the same. I even checked on my own videos and saw the same thing. It's a bit frustrating sometimes because a lot of stitches have different names for the same thing. I guess people call it different ways. Oh well... :/ Thanks for noticing that and leaving a comment. I really like it and I even used it for a recent design for the cuffs and collar on a sweater! ;)

I want to knit a shawl for my grand child with moss stitch which i knew i loved at that time. Thanks ma

Linh Ly Hi. Thanks for the comment. huumm... it's hard to say where you made a mistake. You shouldn't be getting the pattern short. Try again from the beginning and make sure you follow every single step. Sometimes we misunderstand the abbreviations or what they mean. I hope I could help a bit. It I could be next to you seeing you work maybe I could spot an error! Good luck and let me know how it went!

Hi there. Just came across this video trying to learn something new even though I've been knitting for almost 40 years. I was a little taken aback by all the yarn wrapping you constantly do whilst knitting. I don't know if it is because you are left-handed (it appears that way watching the video) or because taught it to you this way. I can assure you that it is not necessary to knit in such a laborious and time-consuming way. Indeed I knit much faster, whilst keeping the yarn, which will form the new stitch, firmly wrapped around my left index finger. Furthermore, the same yarn is fed through from my left index finger, winds through the rest of my fingers of my left hand to maintain proper tension, and that yarn then comes from a ball of wool, which I usually keep in a small container to allow it to move whilst keeping it clean. I know we knitters probably all have our little quirks, but most people want to learn how to knit in a time-efficient way. Please don't be offended, as I only mean well and don't want to upset anyone.

Hi Susanne! Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately I was, for some reason, having a hard time on this specific video on holding my yarn properly. I apologize for the distraction. It is indeed quite a pain to watch that. I am not left-handed though. LOL - I've improved my ways but I still need to wrap the yarn around my fingers so I get good tension. I guess each knitter has her own style. I've tried practicing Continental style too to knit faster but it's just too weird for my hands! LOL - anyways, I appreciate the feedback. It wasn't my best video I agree. But the other ones are nicer! =) take care!

@KnitItOutVancity

+Kim Galea Hi Kim! So you'd start the row count again, which means you will work row 1: K1,P1... Don't think as row 5, think that you work 4 rows and start at row 1 again, that way you always keep track of which row you are! Does that make sense? I hope it helps. Thanks

juliet bumstead hi! Yes! You go back to row 1 and start all over again. When you see in pattern “repeat these x rows” that means you work all the rows and start again on row 1, unless the pattern says otherwise! 😉 hope that helps! Don’t hesitate in contacting me if you have any other question!

You hold the yarn around your hand almost exactly the same way as I do! So, I don't find your techniques distracting in the least! I'm sure there must be videos for continental knitters to learn from. If not, there's a gap that needs filling! Perhaps by one of the people below? I like and appreciate your video. By the way, what was your cast on method?

This may be a little late, it may be the tension in your stitches. Sometime my purl stitches are just a tiny bit looserer (if that's a word) than my knit stitches. It can make a difference, hope that helps

Hi, I've looked all over KZbin and I cant find the exact video i need. I love the moss stitch, it's beautiful. But currently i can only do the knit stitch. I feel comfortable with that one, but i want to change it up a bit. Could you make a video just like this, but a little slower? What i mean is going over the steps lots of times quite slowly and really showing us what you're doing. I've found that making up things to help you remember what to do works well. Thankyou. And sorry if thats not your type of subliminal.

It's a repetitive pattern where 1st row is knit-purl-knit, then 2nd row you purl the knits and knit the purls. It should come up. If it still doesn't show, do two rows of each step

This looks like double moss stitch, the same instructions as your video for double moss stitch. Where I come from Moss Stitch is made up of two rows of an odd number, where you purl each knit stitch and knit each purl stitch.

That is not the UK version of Moss Stritch. That is what we term as Irish Moss Stitch. Great video tho.

+Oshoo oo Hi. In order to follow the instructions you need to refer to the written pattern on the video description. Please check that and follow along with the video. You need to know how to knit and purl already. If you need a reminder of how those look like, please check my videos on how to knit and how to purl. Links are here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJa7o6Sph7Glrbs kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGacl6x5lL6VhKc - I hope that helps! ;)

***** written instructions mean nothing if a person doesn't know how to do a knit stitch or a purl stitch... Your comment is not helpful to beginners. Doing a couple of Stitches in slow motion would be much more helpful!

I agree with a few people on here, your twirling the wool round your finger in totally unnecessary and gets in the way of us seeing where the wool is or should be going
