I am French and I don't speak english very well, so excuse me. What I have to say is I am very happy to have found your videos. I bought your book - on second hand site - for 30 slippers. I had difficults to begin, because I dont knit usually, and I didn't understand the technics. But I persevered, and now I am knitting the fourth pair of slippers, for my family, and I am very proud ! These are the best slippers I’ve made - so happy. Normally I would hand felt with merino roving top. These work out really well. They also look really good and stylish. The felting process sooooo easy. Thank you

I watched a utube video a while back where a lady had some Sami knitwear from a museum which included an odd glove which had survived over 100 years. She had analysed it’s construction and found that despite being of one colour wool, the areas which would be more likely to wear out, like the palm eg, were knitted with two threads. She also had small remnants of colour work which she recreated. I think you would find it interesting.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I have found the Scandinavian knitting technique to be easy to get used to. I am 82 and have knitted in the English way ever since i learned how to knit. I can now do either way and it really has changed my life. I have ordered a copy of your slipper book and can not wait to get started.

I struggled with the pattern first time round. It is worth doing all the way to the heel first and practice it. The key points are knit with both strands together on the last stitch. Then when you turn and slip this last stitch onto the new needle it is nice and firm. Another point I found useful is that knitting 2 together closes the hole. Then you knit with the 2 strands together. I only figured it out from the video.

Knitting with two threads looks like a super power-like x-Ray vision or leaping over a tall building. Color work is the most intimidating thing about knitting to me. Using two threads is every bit as intimidating. Watching you both do it...I think my brain actually stopped processing for a minute. Incredible.

There is a small mistake in the french version, but I corrected it, ans now it is just perfect ! I have calculated the number of stitches and rows, and I have done a tuto for larger feet, and I'll do one other for my grandson wich is 7 years old. 😊

Ok the toe decrease is also challenge. I had to work it out mathematically to understand the pattern. Points to note. The decrease is in 4 sections. Starts in the middle of the sole, then the side, the middle of the top and then the other side. Round 46 (medium) if you knit as suggested you get 20 stitches and not 16 to finish off.

Hi Arne and Carlos, i don’t know if you will see this, the video being a few years old already. Anyway I am knitting the basic slippers, and have a problem with picking the stitches on the side of the heel flap, when i pick them and knit they are too loose and it create a few holes along the side of the slipper. Will this be resolve with the felting ? Is there something that i can do in the future to make these side stitches more tight? Thank for the advices they will be appreciated.

Hi guys! I bought your book and knitted the slippers with fishermans wool on s11 needles and within 18 mins of the washing machine they shrunk to a child size ( I made mens large) The gauge was correct, was this wool not appropriate ?

Benene Lane As we write in the book, all yarns will felt differently. Perhaps you can try again, using a lower temperature and a shorter program. If that doesn't work, you'll have to find another yarn. Finding the right yarn is always a challenge when felting. Good luck!

Fair isle knitting is kinda intimidating, plus I can't find any uses for it. I'm more of a modern individual and to me the fair isle is kinda old fashioned. However it does look pretty, just being honest; it's not my thing and I don't like using double pointed needles!!
