Is it hard to find eomuk (or fishcakes) in your country? 🍢 🍡
@annainspain51762 жыл бұрын
Impossible. No fish cakes, no dried fish. Not even fermented shrimp in jars, due to import regulations (protectionism). I'm surprised we can get fish sauce.
@goalie57332 жыл бұрын
At an Asian supermarket I can usually find odeng/eomuk (as I understand those are basically the same) in the sheets or the “ears”, but it’s really inconsistent as to what shape I can get. About one out of six times I go looking it takes a week to find them. Spring onion and Korean radish or daikon radish honestly are *far* harder to find.

Hello!What brand of fishcake did you use? Yours look so easy to fold. When I made it I have to soak it first in boiling water. Do you have any suggestion? Thank you

I live in Bakersfield, California, two hours away from Los Angeles and luckily we have an Asian store in our town. Is not hard for me. Also, whenever we visit Los Angeles we just visit an Asian Supermarket and load up on deliciousness. 😃👍

I was worried. Since you guys have been on break I've been trying different cuisines from youtube recipes, mostly chinese (all sorts) and thai. Recently made some bomb steak fajitas, but man.... nothing beats korean food for me. So glad you guys are back!! Take care, take it as slow as you'd like and stay healthy ♡♡

Glad to have you back! My mom was korean. Since she passed, I haven't felt close to my heritage because I'm not involved in any Korean communities. Your videos make me feel at home. I want all the food 😅
@lisahinton96822 жыл бұрын
@Zenetta Lee So sorry that your mom has gone. I felt disconnected from my mom's native cuisine/ the foods of my childhood, too, when my mom passed when I was 33. (She was English. I am American.) I stopped making her food as it reminded me so much of her, and it was painful. But little by little I came back to it, and it has become comforting again. When you're ready, start slowly. I hope you slowly find peace and comfort.

So good to see you guys! You both look amazing, Katie you look so cute. Dumb question, does fish cake taste very fishy?
@AkaniTV2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say it’s overly fishy tasting! It’s so good, wish it was easier to find near me 😭
@crodher58652 жыл бұрын
@@AkaniTV thanks for the reply! I didn’t know if they had a strong fish taste or it was more like those crab sticks that don’t taste of much, now I’ll have to buy some to try!
@lisahinton96822 жыл бұрын
@CRodHer Fishcakes are quite bland, actually, with a very light fish flavor in the background. They are used as a garnish in most dishes, imparting very little flavor. This is a different dish entirely as they are the star. I don't find them "fishy" at all, though I remember being worried about that at one time, too. Dan-yul is constantly talking in their videos about bad smells. I love him and Katie, but I think Dan-yul may have some sort of disorder when it comes to smells! 😉🤣😃
