wouldn't it make more sense to do the editing as a positive so you can directly see the results, then invert it last before exporting? Still, awesome results

Yes. I thought the level of contrast was going to be fine until I inverted it. Cheers

Question for you. How long are these taking for you to burn? I am doing my first 5x7 Canvas burn on my Ortur LM 2 Pro and it is gonna take just under 3 hours, for a 5x7!!!! Did you happen to find any tips or tricks to reduce this? I know the tricks for doing normal burns such as using “offset fill” and reducing the Rapid Moves. Do you know if there is a way to reduce the Rapid Moves or reduce the time it takes to burn canvas with the Norton method? Thanks.

Very cool! 🤘 I gotta agree that the last piece with the "less is more" about the amount of detail actually looks really really good. In those old Jason movies alot of his kill scenes weren't exactly in brightly lit scenarios anyway so captured that "Jason carved them up in the woods" vibe for sure👍

Ive never used a laser to remove paint from my canvas ( they are 4' x 5') Interesting process. Ive painted with enamel on aluminum flashing for houses. How about removing paint with a laser to let some of the flashing show through? Almost an engraving but with multiple layers of color maybe? Have fun tonight 🍻 can you laser on whiskey flasks you logo? Or on leather keychains? Have fun tonight 🔪
@BuildDadBuild3 жыл бұрын
Hey Peggy! You can definitely laser leather. And metal if it has a coating (you can't etch the metal, but can remove the material on top). Cheers

Dude, seriously get on the Facebook group - "Norton Den of Lasers" there are people doing this regularly on there, and they do run it at the higher speeds successfully. 2 fast suggestions I have from what I've learned. 1) Do 2 coats of white paint before you apply the colors. I think this might be to protect the canvas and also the even it out a bit. 2) When you are processing your image, it seems around 315 dpi is the sweat spot. This is because the size of the actual laser beam can't do any higher. it's go big for it. They also have a whole process there to make sure you have the best focus. I know your model has the metal cylinder for that, but it might be helpful doing the tests for focus and adjusting the z-height to make sure the cylinder is accurate.

Hello sir. I have a crazy amount of wood working projects ahead of me. I was wondering if I wanted to Shou Sugi Ban a knee wall cabinet I'm building to custom fit. How would you go about that? Should I make all the cuts then burn, assemble most then burn, only burn viewable areas (seems lazy) or some other approach?
@BuildDadBuild3 жыл бұрын
Hey Monique! I would cut the boards (long), Shou Sugi Ban and scrape, and THEN cut to dimension and assemble. That way anything you burned off the ends isn't going to bite you in the butt! Cheers
