Great tip, man, thanks! My annotations for bass layering were: main: 100hz a 1500hz, pluck: 300hz a 5000hz, adjust with transient designer, stereo: 300hz a 5000hz, mid/side eq, -6db mid, sub: 40hz a 100hz.

yo thanks for the summary my man
@musaire4 жыл бұрын
because he used mid/side EQ to cut every freq in center, you could actually just low- and highpass first, and then use any mid/side plugin for that mid-cut part. Good free plugins for that are MSED and A1StereoControl.

You forgot To put your sub In mono.
@RickHillMusic4 жыл бұрын
what about the bass bellow 40 hz ? 20-40 hz is also considered as sub frequencies right ? I've heard that some some producers do it to save some energy (cuz the lowest frequencies tend to eat up a lot of energy) but at the same time some audio engineers say it's better to keep em. what do you guys think ?

Thank you. This really helped me. I've been struggling quite a lot with a bass on one of my songs. It just felt like something was missing. It doesn't anymore. I used other sounds of course but now everything works with the bass in the song . Again thank you for sharing your knowledge.

a lot of the times when i have a stereo bass layer i like to leave the stereo cutoff with a lil more of the lowend and then reduce the mid frequencies of the low end w a low shelf so it sounds like its more like the same sound as the main bass but w some extra depth to it
@jl92052 жыл бұрын
Video suggestion: can you offer any advice on where to start mixing so that when you are done with the mix you still have sufficient Headroom for mastering? For example, where do you place your kick drum and bass to get started before layering all the higher elements on top of that? As i gain experience, I am starting my mixes quieter and quieter, but it always seems to creep up. Any advice you can offer on this topic is most welcome! Love the channel, Z. And it looks like it is really gaining momentum.

Great video! Im a little late to the party but may I ask? Im really interested in the Buss process, the most important plugin on your chain would be the OTT, It would be great if you could disclose the general settings and purpose of the OTT; is it glue? Or Something extra too?

When you are selecting the different layers for the bass sounds can you theoretically use any sounds as long as you eq it correctly? Or do the sounds have to be the same key etc…

Nice video once again! But what do I do if my main bass layer isnt a plucky bass but is more on the high end?
@BigZMusic6 жыл бұрын
that's fine, this is more of a general template - the important thing is that you separate the basses in the frequency spectrum so as long as it's high passed out of the way of the main bass it's all good
@EzGriefing6 жыл бұрын
Big Z Thanks for the reply mate! Maybe you could explain stereo image-ing aswell :) I've been seperating certain frequencies that overlap on chord layers in the stereo image but after this vid I am not sure if I should get rid of one of them or keep seperating them in the stereo.

Yo Z! Question came up in my head. Why don't you go lower than 40hz for the sub? I thought that 70/80/90hz was too high to use a sub? I could be wrong, but curious what your take is! Thanks, G
