It’s interesting how you broke down the different sections of the baseline. Layering your bass is a good way to add variation to your drops.

Awesome video Vlad. This seems like an updated version of a similar video you made last year which was what got me to sign up to your coaching! I'd love to see a sound design video on how you made those off beat stabs too if you're looking for ideas.

Can you do a video on tech house percussive bass lines 808 struggling to really nail the groove and balance with the kick pattern

Great video! I have found that this work great in styles where the Bass is the main element. Where it plays a support role I prefer to be as simple as possible or it creates mud. Do you layer your kicks as well? To me that's the hardest because the timing matters too much
@Fluxeon4 ай бұрын
Yeah it depends on the genre you're making. Sometimes simple bass works better. See how much space you have in the mix and then make decisions based on that :)

Sounds awesome, thank you for the tips :) If you layer two of these basses, how do you manage the mixing of those? Do you just cut all the low frequencies from the top bass when you're playing the same notes? In my experience this sometimes led to an overall weaker sound.
@Fluxeon4 ай бұрын
Yeah, you wanna filter out the lows on the second layer if it plays at the same time as the main one. Othwerwise yeah, just like you said the low end will sound muddy

I would also put all your basses into 1 bus channel then use a compressor to glue them together to control the levels better.

I've also found using a spectral sidechain plugin like Fuser by Mastering the Mix to be really helpful in getting competing elements to sit well with each other.
