Just a little heads up if CTRL/CMD does not work for you. Hold ALT before dropping the sample instead of CTRL/CMD. This worked for me.

is there an easy way to trigger one pad from multiple other pads? as an example you have a kick, snare and hihat on 3 different pads and you want to layer each of these 3 sounds with the another hihat sample on pad4
@LowHeatBeats7 ай бұрын
No, I think they've skipped this functionality. For example in Maschine if you layer samples on a pad, you don't have separate sampler settings for each sample. So that's why they've implemented pad link, to play multiple sounds from one pad and still be able to tweak them, add different effects to each sound, etc. In Ableton's Drum Rack, when you layer samples on a pad you still have different Simplers and effect chains for each sample, so there's no need to be able to link pads. Hope this makes sense 😅
@snubdawg13867 ай бұрын
@@LowHeatBeats i understand but it makes no sense not being able to link pads...it's a workflow killer...at least in my case

My question is whenever I use a drum rack and I want to keep them contained. Is there a way I can seperate my drum tracks without seperating them outside of the drum rack.
@LowHeatBeats6 ай бұрын
Not sure I fully understand the question but you can right-click on a chain and choose “Extract chains” - this will move it to a sparate track.
@patrickhair51356 ай бұрын
@@LowHeatBeats In this video I see how you keep all your sounds contained into one drum rack and things aren't broken up. Here is how I've been taught to create a rack, but I think it makes since to keep my rack contained but I been doing things as is. I separated all my instruments with a utility gain, Eq 8, and channel eq to give me more control of my instrument and to properly gain stage things to a -18db. this is on all my instruments. How I see you going things is just level each instrument and put delay or drum bus on each instrument as a send. At what point do you put a utility gain, Eq. 8, and channel eq on each instrument or don't shown in this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKjYeZluh9OMa80
@LowHeatBeats6 ай бұрын
@@patrickhair5135 You don't need to separate them (unless you want them on separate channels in your project, for example for exporting individual tracks). The Drum Rack has its own mixer and every chain is its own channel so you can use different effects for each sound. You can just drag and drop an EQ, utility or any other effect on a pad and it will only affect that pad. Or you can setup sends and returns in the Drum Rack mixer.
@patrickhair51356 ай бұрын
@@LowHeatBeats I wanted to thank you I finally realized how to use the rack the way I want it. I like keeping things contained and it sounds good. My only question if you have a 808 how can you play it in different notes if you have other instruments on the same rack.

Can you layer drums using the push?
@LowHeatBeats Жыл бұрын
I’m not 100% sure. Maybe you can change what note the drums are assigned to in the Drum Rack and assign them to the same note? I have to look into it and see if it’s possible. In reality though, tasks like these are much faster and more efficient with the mouse and keyboard.

Heyo everyone! im slowly getting desperate and i dont know where else or HOW exactly to search for this so if someone could help me out i would highly appreciate it 🙏😅 After i inserted the "Drum Rack" into the timeline the left side of my pad glows red and i want to add something it starts the session and the loop, but i just want to freestyle the beats rather then pressing and the sound coming up a few seconds later. I am a complete newbie with this and its my first time using Ableton and a Novation pad. Much love and thanks for readying/helping 🙏
@LowHeatBeats Жыл бұрын
You just have to learn how Session view (and Live in general) works as a whole. I've been meaning to make a tutorial about it, but haven't done so yet. But to play the drum rack you need to switch to the note mode on your Launchpad, it seems you're using the clip mode where you trigger clips.

would be good if they fixed the icon when you hold command (on mac). at the moment, when you hold command (on mac) the icon stays the same, and when you hold alt (on mac) the icon shows a "+" as if it's going to stack the samples but it just replaces it. thx for the video ✌✌

Glad the video was useful! Alt shows "+" because it duplicates the sample, I think it's the correct icon for this.
@fantasticmrwolfe Жыл бұрын
@@LowHeatBeats yeah + does mean duplicate rather than replace, my point was the “stack” icon is the same as the “replace” icon, which makes the user think holding down command does nothing different ie, replace. ✌🏼✌🏼
