This video was awesome thank you for the detailed but quick to the point instructions and explanation of each number and what they do!

Hey Mark, good educational video here. I got a question, how deep we usually drill the fingers for 2LS? Because i feels like 2LS is 'stronger' than other layout system (e.g PAL layout). Is it because of the finger depth? I've read that Chris Via drilled 4.5" deep with 2LS. PAL system says at least 3.5" deep but Storm recommend not more than 2 3/4" deep.

Depends on what you want to accomplish. In my opinion, it isn’t a huge difference maker. Essentially, if your Pin to COG distance is longer, and if you go deeper, you affect that axis much more and would increase differential in the drilled core numbers… but in reality for 99% of bowlers it won’t make a significant difference. In the end, we still need to repeat shots and make good decisions on the lane, we can go very deep down the rabbit hole if we want to on the Proshop side.

When going from one to two hands bowling do I need to measure new pin to pap or can I use one I have for one handed style ? Thanks in advance
@spectrebowling3 ай бұрын
no, you should check the PAP again using the two handed style. They should be drastically different from one another.

does this work for symmetrical cores as well or just asym?

Hey. I have plenty of time to try dual angle/vls/ pal and 2ls layout. At this moment, as a 2handers i assume that PAL and 2LS are meant for that. But, could you give us a more understanding on that third measurement? My point is, when you use dual angle or VLS, the third measurements created have an influence or move the VAL and when you use one PAP to another, it make the layout being closer or farther from the pin. (If you see what i mean) When you use PAL or 2LS, that third measurement place the hole at a certain distance from the pin (that is the point of that method) but when you use a pap compare to another, the distance is still the same but influence the orientation of the hole (the val "hypothetical" is very different that way). Can you just explain how this method is definitely more accurate for 2 handers. (Im a 5 over and 3.5 up PAP! So when i tried most of the 2LS Storm layout suggested, i feel that is a very big 3rd angle... ( Because I learned at first with dual angle) I'm confused but I'm confident in the accuracy of Mo and Mikey creation (pal) and Storm 2LS specifically designed! So i just want to understand more of the science under this 😊.

Hi Anthony. Thanks for the comment. In traditional layouts, the thumb is always the biggest hole, and usually it is pretty close to the Y axis (mass bias). This is less of the case with two handed players. This is why the 2LS system uses the grip center as a reference point, since bringing the largest hole (in this case only fingers) closer to the mass bias or Y axis of the ball will INCREASE total differential after drilling. It took me a while to wrap my head around it, but think of it this way... closer the holes are to the X axis (Pin), smoother the shape. Closer the holes are the Y axis (equator of the ball), you will get more performance and hook potential. Hope that sums it up good. Maybe we'll think about some FAQ videos to explain some of this. Thanks!

@@spectrebowling that's just the simplest and best way to understand this! Thx again for the reply, it's perfect and now it's clear for me. I had the chance to meet you in your hometown at Buffa distribution so I know that you speak french but I was trying to keep the conversation in English for others... So, I'm sorry if that was not very understandable ^^'. As long as it was clear for you! Thx again.

How do you do this with a symmetric ball ?
@spectrebowling2 ай бұрын
Same process. To identify the mass bias, measure 6 3/4 from the pin thru the CG.

What hole depth do you normally use?

Probably 2 and a half inches I’d guess

Depends on what you're trying to accomplish really. This video is to explain the layout process mostly, how to draw the lines. We can do another video explaining more technically what each number means and how to approach it. For no-thumb players, I tend to go a bit deeper, to impact the numbers after drilling a bit more since we touch the core.

@@spectrebowling please god explain even more, I watch your videos coz my country as a whole only has 2 pro shops and they tend to be assholes when we ask more questions. Can you show us how we can incorporate our pap into layouts please ? I’d love to see it and will subscribe just to watch that video!
