Great vid! When I learned how to frame I was told to cut two common rafters without deducting the 3/4" of material. These are the dedicated ends to the ridge board. The reason being is the height has to be exact or the seat cuts will be off and the hip will also be off. This was how I learned cut hip roofs.

Thanks @charlesparks440. I made that fence. Its just a couple of pieces of oak fastened at either end with a gap the thickness of the square and holes for carriage bolts and wing nuts.
