Or did you turn on the tv for 5 years to English Channels and then one day was like ah I understand? Please tell me in detail

This works particularly well with languages that are very similar to your native language or a language that you know well. For example: Portuguese->English. But if you do this from English->Chinese etc., it's a different story. Input (reading and listening) definitely works, but it's not that easy or fast if the languages are too different. My own experience is that as a native Chinese and Thai speaker, it was very difficult for me to learn English, but now that I know English, learning Spanish is a breeze. I mainly watch KZbin and Netflix and read a bunch of basic news articles online and am progressing insanely fast. I've also learnt English mainly through input. Long story short: I agree, but whether it's really that easy depends on what language background you have.

Hey I’m starting to learn Mandarin it’s backwards I’m learning English to Mandarin and I want to speak it so madly, how to got the tones and how to read pictographs, it’s an interesting language I hope someday translate between Chinese to English hehe, I hope you speak Spanish soon, regards.
@idontgiveah00t7 ай бұрын
@@luismanuelvelazquezmejia2619 You need a lot of input and shadowing. Try transcribing the mandarin you hear to improve your listening for the subtleties and echo what you hear back. Listen to natives talking at normal speed once you have some general vocabulary. You need comprehensible input. Input that is roughly understood but challenging. A lot of this shit is just repetition and connecting contextual memory to active memory. So surround yourself with interesting Mandarin concepts. Use subtitles (in Mandarin- if you're learning to read) and watch things over again. You'll begin to intuitively pick up on things, especially if you're studying actively on the side. You will forget things. That's part of the process. You will also remember things that you don't know how you know. Don't cram or force yourself to remember. Language isn't a test, it's a means of communication. Take interest in everything you do to interact with the language. It makes the journey so much more fun. Don't stress about speaking. Echo and write what you know or hear. Over time you'll collect the words and phrases that mean something to you. Just my personal experience from learning Japanese starting with English. Good luck to you tho.

This is how I learned english, I never put much effort into it but I ended up getting a Cambridge english C1 certificate at the age of 14 because of this, although i gotta say, i feel like i couldve learned much more if i actually studied alongside doing this, i knew barely any english up until the age of 10, that was around the time covid hit so i just watched youtube and tiktok all day and was in a pretty dark place due to the lack of in-person contact with my peers, wasnt a great time but honestly really improved my english, now i want to learn spanish because im gonna start spanish at school next year so why not start sooner by myself, im also going to try and learn korean just for fun and german because i study that in my current school and i honestly wanna improve, so im going to implement this method and if anyones reading this, i wish you good luck with learning and you can do it!

@@hammadrao9233 i feel you, i still blank sometimes when speaking to people but id recommend just putting yourself out there and just practice with anyone you can (preferrably someone better than you so you can also learn from them) and not worrying about making mistakes, youre still learning after all and even the short lived embarrassement is still going to pay off, maybe finding a study buddy or a teacher to practice with, or perhaps trying one of those apps made specifically for improving your speaking with strangers? not sure about that one since i havent tried it yet but ive heard pretty good things about it, thats probably all i can think of right now, since im still working on my speaking skills and i dont think theyre in no way perfect, but i feel like i sound pretty natural because im always listening to smt in english and kind of mimicking it when i speak or making notes in my head if i dont know the pronunciation, for writing skills, i think reading books in english might help but im not sure, i signed up for my cambridge exam just a month before the exam so i didnt have much time to improve my writing and had no writing experience whatsoever so i just watched SMASH English on youtube and i think i learned everything necessary to make my writing neater since i had to write 2 essays in my exam, dont know much about it though since im not very good at writing in my native language either but looking to improve in there too, i know my comment is very long so i hope i helped atleast a little bit ❤

I like this video but I do have a few problems with watching tv and reading books made for kids. The problem is that there is a lot of children specific words, and random weird filler words that no adault uses in said language. Also many kids shows are too boring for me to watch, that's why I like to look for content made for learners of the language. I reccomend graded readers, and watch youtube videos made for learners, where they use simple languge so it's not too complex to follow. I 100% agree to look for content about subjects you enjoy, it's one of the most important things to keep you motivated on your journey. Thanks for sharing bro! respect from a fellow language learner.

In addition to that finding enjoyable contents is not as easy as daily English resources. Do you have any suggestions about it?
@JoaoSales-JP107 ай бұрын
I agree with you that studying for exams is different. I once took the Duolingo English test, and it was stressful. Regarding content, it depends on your level. If you're not that advanced, I would recommend watching comedy movies, family-friendly movies, cartoons, and KZbin videos discussing languages like mine. However, it ultimately comes down to your proficiency level. If you're more advanced, you'll find plenty of enjoyable content more easily.
