I had a question to ask. This was from a discussion I was having with a colleague of mine: Is it best to learn Tekken fundamentals by sticking to one of your core / main character or picking different characters depending on what aspect of the game you want to learn? This is keeping in mind that I consider myself somewhere in between intermediate and expert. I'm not sure if you've touched on this in one of your streams/videos but it's something I had to ask...
@TkAnakin4 жыл бұрын
It's all up to you. Picking up different characters can definitely open your eyes to new things that your character may not have had. I would say that if you've spent a very long time playing just one character, it wouldnt hurt to try. It also keeps the game fresh and fun by picking up someone new. At the end of the day it's all about having fun. Dont try to pick up new characters just because someone said so, or just because you think itll help you win more games. As an intermediate player, the game still has to many new things to explore and learn. Just keep having fun, and you'll keep learning and getting better. Good luck!

Funny thing is, it's very basic Law things he was doing. His Law doesn't have much flare right now (or rather from what we have seen, who knows how old this clip is) but from basic knowledge and learning the frames on key moves he's able to pull those out. And fake flip kicks are just way too good to troll with to not use. I'm an east coast (South US) Law main. We can play if you want.

@kylefields39512 жыл бұрын
You have to be ready to liberally use high crush and mix up your timing. The best piece of anti Steve I can give as a Steve main is to *Truly* not press when you have the life lead. Don't be afraid to straight up play lame as fuck, as a competitor, it is not your job to win the match when you have the lead, it is the opponent's job to not lose because rounds are timed, they don't have forever to win, they only have 60 seconds, use that to your advantage. And if your throw breaks and backwards movement are on point, it is a difficult task for a Steve to truly get a comeback. The moves to watch out for from Steve when you have the life lead is extended ducking blue unblockable which loses to good backwards movement, The Foot Stomp which requires he be right up on you which means that if you're moving backwards to avoid extended ducking you're already naturally out of range of this attack as well and 1+2 throws, and a 2 throw. Other moves to watch out when you have the life lead are Dempsey Roll, (it's much deadlier than players seem to think it is) so don't use highs if you can avoid it, try not to step when in range of his attacks, and don't whiff because of EX-Sonic Fang 14 Launcher from Rage. So when the Steve has Rage, only step when you're clearly out of his attack range, and don't press. It is legitimately way more important to play like a Korean against Steve when you want to close him out, more so than any other character. In summary, use more high evasive attacks, don't be afraid to truly chill on the life lead when you have it, be careful with your steps, and try not to use high attacks when he's in rage. Jack Hammer playstyle is straight up bad against Steve, but the liberal use of Down Back 1 or whichever one Jack has that high crushes and slaps the shin is great! Debug is for sure risky, but it'll beat Back 1 from Steve clean so keep that in mind too. You got any Jack-7 playing advice? I'm also just ready to discuss more of the game in general because I like talking about it. But sorry that this response came a little late.

How do you try to understand a person "doesn't know" when you've made multiple successful reads that have punished them heavily, during a match? Especially in a ft2. Example, punishing hellsweep multiple times to the point you know their timing, but they still do it anyway or someone who doesn't even know how you'v gotten that info. I tend to doubt myself a lot during those matches due to how good the mix is or when someone truly doesn't even understand what i'm doing and I lose quite a few games for it. There's so many variables to that, was wondering what was a way that you try to decide that someone is adjusting or that you've made the accurate answer for the situation so that you can continue to make that answer next time.
@AlarmingGeneral4 жыл бұрын
I think that if what you're doing is working, there is no reason to change. When you find that you are no longer finding success that should be the point that you mix up. Keep it simple.

That's what they call a good set. But it's your job to still look for major/minor imperfections in their play and adapt. Maybe they stopped using a bad low as much after block/punishing but continue to whiff at a certain range, every round you should be trying to gather more info for the download

Wtf man 7:57 Tell me if I got something wrong 1-You backdash to see how he reacts and you punished his whiff 2-SS>b4(because of the wall) in case he presses you get another whiff punish and the "safe" mid hits and you get free damage 3-you adjusted to the situation and got a free ff3 and soccer kick 4- this is the one I want to know...b,df cancel to make him crouch and f3 to launch or be neutral in case he stand blocked?
@TkAnakin4 жыл бұрын
B df4 cancel to f3 is a trap that I like to do often Basically once the opponent realizes that I cancel the move and want to attack me, it's too late because f3 is already coming out. It's a trap to counter hit them.

@loongaming1054 жыл бұрын
I literally only play steve. Hes a great character with insane damage output, cheeky moves, insane read punish and crazy good movement. I'm not good at the game imo, im about 900 wins deep and keep dropping usurper rank. Reguardless, one thing that I have been told that I do wrong is that I press a lot of buttons. If you can actually look at the game make reads like anakin teaches you will go REALLY far REALLY fast as steve. Hes good at playing defensive so you can actually take time and learn what your opponent will do as you play him. Once you familiarize yourself with his crazy long move list and punishments hes an all around great character. If you wanna pick up steve I highly encourage it because imo hes just a blast to play. I was super discouraged at first but people seemed to give me props no matter how bad I played just for I guess "participating" in trying to play a good Steve. Not trying to like jerk myself off in any way but you are kinda like a unicorn when playing in ranked (as far as I know from the dans to yellow and even smurfs are surprised to see it) so good chance you will meet some great players along the way who are totally happy to play you and help you learn.

You cannot on a broken connection. Ps4/Xbox no way. Why is it so many of these content creators forget to mention the delay that has HUGE impact on your performance as a player? Or is this meant only for Japanese and Korean? Because Europe suffers due to bad netcode even PC, is terrible. I played 2 years. And it took me so long to realise I first need to adapt to lag, than I have to know when lag flunctuates, than I have to learn characters that work WELL with lag, and their move list that has advantage on lag. That some characters who are well punishable. Become instantly a 50/50 killing machine due to bad netcode and low to none response time. Start talking about that first before you get new players to play this game seriously!!!
