Project based learning is spot on. I applied this method unknowingly at university and only focused on where the grades were, the assignments. I did not do any of the allocated readings in 7 years of university, I simply focused on the assignments. Of course in doing the assignments it is necessary to do a lot of reading in order to inform them. But the reading was practical in the sense that the information learned was applied directly to the task at hand. Great video!

This is the right thing; you must practice to learn something. I can just add that I think anyone who wants to learn something has to take a real task or give it to themselves. They should try to resolve it, make some or a lot of mistakes, and then go back to learn why they were made and how to correct them. And so on. Every time, you become better.

You're honestly amazing. Somehow I'm lucky enough that I don't need this video, I learn pretty easily mostly because everything I learn is something I'm very interested in. But your last tip...It's the icing on the cake. DO. SOMETHING. I don't read books, I study them. I write notes, I write what I understood about chapters, even though I don't even read those notes ever, I wasn't passively reading a book. And really this makes a world of difference because you can't just zip through a book like it's nothing, you need to understand it, you need to be able to explain what it meant, so you can at least take notes (or, like I do, write down examples). YOU GOT THIS. Ruri is so successful, you CAN be HER. I want to be her, with something else than KZbin but still. I will be as successful as Ruri is. I simply need to work hard.

Excellent video! I like the term "Teach Yourself" used in English because that is literally the best learning method imho, at least it worked wonders for me when learning any new topic. To elaborate, you are studying "whatever" as you read a page or watch a section of the tutorial, stop. Now try to teach yourself (in third person), what you just learned! Whether it is a new word/term in a new language or a command of computer programming language or algebra formula, this works. Speak out loud if you need to. I do. Hearing yourself when you are reading something enforces 2 senses which is better than one. When you try to explain yourself what you just learned, you will find out how well you actually retained the info. Then go back to re-read or watch the material for comparison. You will either confirm that you learned it correctly or will have to make corrections. Remember, you want to make sure what you are learning into memory is correct. You do not want to fill up your memory with incomplete or incorrect info! I also, 100% agree with task/project driven learning, especially when it comes to technical stuff. I learned scripting using mainly that. I had a task in mind that I needed to create a script for. So, learn enough commands and syntax from videos or books to start writing a line. Test it until you see it is working just the way you want it. Questions that start with "What if..." or "I wonder if..." is a great sign of "critical thinking". That has to happen to confirm you are learning and are dedicated to improve not just the project but yourself as well. Task/project learning forces you to practice the new knowledge on the fly while also confirming the validity of the info learned.
