Very important about German: it is actually a very easy language to learn and pronounce; that is if you know the exact writing and spelling rules, pronouncing rules and the grammer. Grammer is very important in the German language. In th past there were a book which was called "Deuschtsprachlehre für Ausländer" or something like that. Go through his book back and force several times and learn German Grammer like Mathematics as it is very systematic ... and you would get surprised ... All the other tips and advice which you are giving here are certainly very valuable ...

German is very difficult to pronounce for French people. As you know in German all the letters are pronounced and there is no connection between words, in french that's all the contrary. As a french people, I am oblige to concentrate, contract my abs and my jaw to speak german. German is an extrem unconfortable and non-natural language to hear and speak for french people

"They speak too fast" is a complain which can you hear for nearly every new language :D When I as a German started to learning Spanish, I literally understand nothing for month . Than, bit by bit it went better. I started to understand people who did not speak too fast, and after another bunch of time I finally begun to understand Spanish in its normal speed and that can be very fast . Next step was to understand with a slighty different pronounciation or from another Spanish speaking country. In language learning there is no secret. Keep learning. Sooner or later you will make progress.

Zoe I found a new trick lately about listening (maybe helpful to me at least) I’m listening to podcast in a 1.25 speed (faster than usual) accidentally one day and i realized I can pick up some words even so its faster. Once I’m used to this speed after an episode I relisten to it in the regular speed, and its actually allowing me to pick up more words as it sounds “slower”

@ yes, for A1-A2 level I recommend Easy German (podcast and youtube channel), Deutsch Lernen, and some news podcast like “die Nachrichten” by Deutschlandfunk. For B1 level I would recommend you to explore podcast that you may find interested (totally fine if it’s very comprehensive German). For me I like Fast & Curious, and Lifestyle of Longevity

Wow!!!! You really hit it on point. I've been doing pretty much as you described in your video: Easy German, Nikos Weg, Tages Shau, different podcasts, German Documentaries History, Nature, and Science. And I did finally attend a private language school for 10 weeks for 3 sessions per week for 1 1-2 hours per session to help in the reduction of my accent, increase fluency, and of course work on my bad grammar. I still have a long way to go but it's paying off. Thank you for your guidance and additional tips in mastering a new language.

My notes: A1 1. No more than two sources for learning. Not doing can baffle you or confuse 2. Of course, you're supposed to learn basic thing and constantly repeat them in order to build solid start. 3. Nico's weg --- finish a couple of lessons then return and the lessons' script pay attention to gram. And do not hurry to learn as much as possible 4.Anki could be used to build up your vocabulary. 5.Reverso a good dictionary which help you learn a word... A2 in process..

Some Notes for me and if you pople want as well: A1: 1. Start taking lessons from Lingoda… try their sprint challenge, you can get cashback as well so yay. 2. Nicos weg: For each lesson, theres a short video, firstly follow the lessons as you’re just beginning to learn, and after you’re done with the lessons and noted down stuff which you needed to, go back to the videos. Rewrite the script of the video. Yes, the script. Don’t be lazy for it. Read the grammar and vocabulary at the end of the videos. Don’t rush. 3. Anki: (for level a1 to b1) Download a goethe deck for vocabulary learning. Just search and download the goethe deck for your required level on anki. Whenever you learn a new word, always write it down WITH an example sentence. It will help you build your deck better. 4. Dictionary: Reverso. Save new words in your favourites and do repitations. Start doing conjugation exercises, build a list of words in an excel or notebook. A2: 1. Main resource: Nicos weg and Lingoda. A lesson on nicos weg, and targetting your weaknesses by taking a communication lingoda group lesson. 2. If you want to target your grammar, do grammatik aktiv. 3. Follow a short article with nachrichten leicht. 4. Listen to songs, podcasts, videos, from like easy german … and a good podcast is “Deutsch Podcast”. Don’t try to understand everything… just listen while doing chores. Doing all this will help you build the immersion environment which you will require later. B1: 1. Nicos weg and lingoda still work, but now nachrichten leicht will seem too easy, so try the website “news in slow german”, and have the speed set to 1-1.5x. You’ll learn more topics and vocabulary, note em down. 2. Podcast recommended for this: Easy german podcast. You can also start listening to audiobooks before going to bed, just write the name of the book and add “hÖrbuch” after the name. 3. Start watching vlogs in german, common everyday life stuffs. Just search “Der vlog”. 4. Think and talk to yourself only in german. Try talking to friends about more complicated topics in german. B2-C1: 1. Increase your study time, give yourself more exercises, try to get as much efficient as possible. And… 2. Immersion. Expose yourself to the language as much as much as possible, cut down on exercises from the book grammatik aktiv, and also don’t be taking notes all the time. As it might be overwhelming. 3. To learn everyday life german: Start watching german movies and series (YAY DARK REWATCH) as easy german podcast at this level will be too easy. Here is a list of some movies and serieses in german to watch: (BUT START WITH DARK (for me lol)) 4. To learn academic/proffesional german: Watch ZDFheaute Nachrichten or tagesschau (yt channels) while having breakfast or like lunch or something, Watch proffesional content, like documenteries, notes or something… try watching university lectures, or school lectures of phy, chem, maths or cs, it interests you too and itll help you build more vocabulary in german. Read papers in german OUT LOUD. Like research papers or newspapers, but read them out loud. And note down where you get stuck and practice them everyday. 5. Save the new words in your reverso favourites and go through the repitition exercises. You’ll learn a lot of new words while watching these lectures and stuff so “Es ist noch kein meister vom Himmel gefallen” All the besttt

Wow, great video, I haven't started on German yet, but my plan is more like doing it all alone by myself as much as possible. My method for up to B2 level is like this: 1 - A0 level, do "The Great Courses German Video Course" + learn German ABCs and learn to pronounce German words correctly. 2 - A1 level, use "Teach Yourself German" book + "Michel Thomas German Audio Course". 3 - A2 level, use "Assimil German With Ease" and a proper grammar book which I have yet to decide and Pimsluer audio course. 4 - B1 to B2 Level, I will go more and more into random reading of bi directional text, and watching German videos. Also try to find few Germans I can talk to on internet.

Step 4 - For speaking, use courses like Pimsluer app, only $20 per month, and will give you audio courses to speak properly. I wish there was a video like this one years ago. You give a lot of very good tips. I'm currently just starting learning German on my own with occasional speaking partner. I really need to learn German to B2 in one year. Hopefully I'll come back to tell the tale a year later. Upd: 10 months later I'm on A2. But that's okay. N.b.: cutting corners leads to slower progress. Don't repeat my mistakes. Don't rush, get the new words down and by all means, if you can afford a German teacher or courses - buy them. Upd2 05.06.2024: RN I sort of pass B1 (in reality - between good A2 and bad B1). I can feel the transition from needing to write exercises to the need of immersing myself and speaking as much as I can. My educated guess that in another several months I will be somewhere inbetween good B1 and bad B2. The reality of situation - brain needs time to learn stuff. Maybe the goal of reaching B2 in a year is realistic for some people, but definitely not for me. But that's okay. Will update once I get this certificate or something. Upd3 10.12.2024: I passed the exam. I'll be frank: start with a GOOD b1 level, start preparing with Mit Erfolg, take your time to be good with Schreiben templates (it may and will take several days to learn the structure by heart), in parallel - start doing Werkstatt (first do one part of the mock exam, than do exercises from the workbook), after that - use Projekt B2 for mock exams (I had everything but sprechen on the day 1, and sprechen on the day 2, but I'd suggest doing mock exams in one sitting - sometimes they have it in a single day). Most important thing for Lesen and Hören is Wortschatz, most important for Schreiben and Sprechen is to have a good structure and have enough words to express most of your ideas. And, of course, a lot of practice. Read news, watch Galileo, watch cartoons, play games - immerse yourself like your life depends on it.

Extremely helpful video, i first started learning german in January so easily and quickly due to a full immersion (working and living in germany and living with germans) and got to a B1 in just 5 months! And ever since i've moved i have felt a little bit stuck, my goal is to get my B2 before September 2023 and this video was exactly what i needed to figure out how to approach it, on top of my german classes which i feel are kinda holding me back. @@jabranparabhu1778 I would say it really depends on the person and circumstances, the course i was following in germany was nost great but it kept me going and motivated. Which i think is the best think about a language course, it sets a certain routine. But ever since i have been able to set my own routine and have been more disciplined about language learning i feel like the course that i am attending now is really not being fruitful compared to how much i learn by myself. So i would say try to see how you manage by yourself and i you do feel like you could use some external motivation then try out a course.

German is so cool. The first language I tried to learn I think. Too bad in college there was no support for it and the self taught community was way smaller back then. Even the history professor for German laughed at the idea of me learning it lol. To piggy on to the other poster, I think Farsi would be a great video. I don’t have any interest in learning it in the near future but I think Persian language and culture is wonderful and under represented!

The problem with many people is that they want to take a "magic pill" or get "secret knowledge" and immediately have skills and abilities. However, the truth of life is that knowledge, skills, and abilities do not come by themselves. You can't learn a foreign language without doing anything, without wasting your time and effort, just like you can't learn to ride a bike lying on a comfy couch, listening to lectures and watching videos about "modern methods of learning" on a bike. To really learn something, you have to really practice every day. You're going to fall down while you're learning, and you're going to get bumps - that's normal! The ups and downs of learning are an integral part of our lives. Motivation from success and depression from failure will always be your study companions. However, every student has problems in his or her studies that he or she lacks the knowledge to solve. It can be: poor memorization of words; no progress in language learning; the student can speak, but does not understand speech by ear; misunderstanding of grammar; incorrect pronunciation, etc. Agree that a problem you don't know how to solve is very demotivating. In order to find the answer to our question we have to spend a lot of time to read videos, articles and books by polyglots. In today's world, we have to solve problems as quickly as possible. I don't have time to study and analyze a huge amount of information. My goal is to master the basic knowledge of a foreign language as quickly as possible and already start earning money effectively in the international arena. I settled on the practical guide by Yuriy Ivantsiv " Polyglot's Notes: practical tips for learning foreign language". This book is always in my bag. If I have a problem while learning a language, I quickly find the answer in this book. There are many different techniques and tips for learning a foreign language in Polyglot Notes. I have made my own individual schedule and plan for language learning. Now I know what I am going to study, how I am going to study, when I am going to study and what results I am going to achieve. No problem could stop me! With an effective language learning plan my professional skills are more and more in demand internationally every day. Friends, don't stop there! Everyone has talents that millions of people around the world need! Learn the language and make your ideas and dreams come true!
