Thank you for the encouragement! I have spent years trying to learn Hungarian enough that I can have conversations with people, even if I make mistakes. I lived in Hungary for a year as an exchange student over 20 years ago and that started my journey. I have been learning on Duolingo, which is great for structure and vocabulary, but terrible for speaking. Thankfully I go back and visit my host family every few years and I get another chance to practice. The Hungarians I have interacted with are always happy I am using the language, even if I can’t talk too much. It’s really a wonderful language, but very difficult. It makes learning other languages seem so easy. I love your podcast. It’s great to listen and realize how much I can understand. It’s also good to know it takes years and to keep going. I have new breakthroughs all the time, but it can be quite discouraging.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m happy you have good experience with Hungarians and I totally understand it can be discouraging sometimes. I also understand Hungarian is not similar to anything so you won’t find similarities like between Italian and Spanish or Slavic languages etc. But I also think people forget how much time they spend learning other languages. Let’s take English as an example. We assume English is easy but is it really that easy or is it that we’re immersed all the time 24/7. We use it all the time every day, we listen to English songs, we watch movies in English, it’s the common language with all our foreign friends. And we’ve usually been doing that since we were children. English has been a part of my life for 20 years at least. And then I listen to a podcast sometimes in Spanish, talk to my teacher once a week for 30 minutes and I expect the same results and in 2 years. This is just an example but I’m sure my point is clear :) I’m not saying this is always the case, but I’ve seen this a lot too.

Como decía Bukowsky, "if you're going to try, go all the way"... Si vas, que sea para llegar hasta el final, no para quedarte a mitad del camino. Así que por ahora me conformo con escucharte a ti y a los grupos de música húngara que me gustan. Mañana, Dios dirá.

Szia Sziszi!!🙂👋 Sorry, I deleted my previous comment 'cause I thought that it might have been perceived in a negative way, and I surely didn't want that.☺ Something that I wrote was not constructive either, so I preferred to remove.🙂 Thanks again for all, take care and keep up the amazing work!💪☺

Szia! Im sorry that I made you feel like that, it definitely wasn’t my intention. I thought your comment was very important, I shared it on Instagram too and it’s something very important to talk about and I was thankful you started that conversation. I probably should have expressed more empathy towards you. I mostly concentrated on native speakers’ side. But it wasn’t negative at all, it’s a general, universal experience, all of us have, me too, as language learners. Thank you for letting me know, though, why you deleted it and of course I respect your decision. I hope this won’t keep you from sharing your opinions in the future because they’re welcome all the time and I appreciate you watching, being here and sharing your thoughts ❤️

Oh no, don't worry Sziszi! You haven't made me feel bad in any way...that is impossible 'cause You're always so very kind!☺ I just thought that I had been a bit too negative, which I actually was, and I felt it was not right to leave a negative comment. It's always better to be constructive and to look for the good and the positive in every situation, as You do constantly, so i preferred to 'remove'.🙂 Of course I won't stop commenting...how could I? I love your videos too much!☺☺ Thanks so much for being so thoughtful and kind, have a beautiful day, take care!☺💐 🙏@@HungarianwithSziszi
