Hey, this is an excellent walkthrough. Thanks for the shout-outs! This is one of the best examples of someone putting the ideas from my course into action!!! Oh, and your approach to weapon slots was very practical! A few minor things to note: -I am not against using the meta rigs. I avoid it in my course for the sake of showing what Rigify can do. Once you understand how it works, they are a great time-saver. But I am glad that you showed the process of building a Rigify rig from scratch since very few people do that. -Tentacles for fingers are fine but you could have used Finger rig types. I used tentacles in the alien because it has two phalanges on each finger and I thought that the finger rig type needs three to work. Since then I learned that a finger with only two phalanges is also OK. :)

Thank you for this tutorial! Figuring out how to attach an object the character needs to manipulate was a nightmare until I watched this. Saved me a lot of work!

About the object slots: The "basic.super_copy" rig type copies all the settings of the bone into the generated rig, including constraints! So you can set it up in the meta rig. You just need to enable the "Relink Constraints" checkbox in the Rigify Type settings and name your constraint CTRL:Whateveryouwant@DEF. CTRL:... means that the constraint will be copied to the control bone. @DEF means that the target will be "relinked" to the deform version of the target bone.

Hey nice tutorial! I do like that my rigs and wonder why you say that not working in games? I been using that method to do games animations. I just been struggle in how to change weapon or switching weapons and that I solve in unity to hide weapons when you not use that haha I animated characters with full gear different weapons but then I hide everything except one weapon what he wanna use.
