Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Priorities and perspective man, we spend thousands in depreciating assets but when it comes to our education we don't want to spend anything. Most people in the US can easily work harder to save up that money that will in turn buy you the knowledge to make more.

6 grand. Six Thousand USD To learn how to run an ad on FACEBOOK?! KZbin is a free resource still, right?
@LiamBClosing
@LiamBClosing Жыл бұрын
He didn't pay the guy just to teach him how to slap an ad up on facebook, he paid the guy to tell him exactly how to craft an ad that will convert infinitely better than one he put together. Sure there are free resources, but they take a lot longer to sift through and then you've still gotta go test out what you learned. There is a tipping point in life where it makes a lot more sense to spend money to save time than to spend time to save money.
@RootBeerBrody
@RootBeerBrody Жыл бұрын
@@LiamBClosing That makes sense. Gotta spend money to make money in many cases. However to learn a new skill there are far more recourses to use that are completely free. Even a free trial of skillshare would get you a decent way i to what you want to learn. Are they selling their own product or are they wanting to be an AD creator? No amount of spending money will save your own product to sell great, but it can happen. Though spending that money to be a professional in the AD creation industry, I can understand, but not throwing it at some company. The way this is presented feels misguided as if the advice was for the “every man”. Unless I’m misunderstanding and this is simply their experience with becoming an AD creator.
@LiamBClosing
@LiamBClosing Жыл бұрын
@@RootBeerBrody the advice is not to a specific industry. The advice is the blanket ideology of "If you want to become very good at something in the fastest way possible, pay the very best person to show you how." Certainly most people aren't in the position to pay the best person to teach them, but this advice is quite good as your business grows. For example, my time is more leveraged doing sales calls for my business. It wouldn't make sense for me to spend a week trying to build my own website when it won't be that good and I lose a weeks worth of potential sales. It would make far more sense to pay somebody to show me how to do it quickly, or just pay them to do it entirely.
@RootBeerBrody

@@LiamBClosing For the example you presented: Have you heard of Wix or Squarespace by chance?
@bradyvilhauer4445
@bradyvilhauer4445 Жыл бұрын
@@RootBeerBrodyI think you’re still missing the point - if your business needs to learn how to use Facebook ads, paying someone a decent amount of money CAN be worth it. Yes there are free resources duh but the world at large is still spending 80,000+ in college debt because it’s often a much more intentional thing. I get what you are saying, but if it was strictly as simple as “go watch a KZbin video and make your website on squarespace using free resources”, there would be a HECK of a lot more millionaires running around, including yourself, don’t you agree?

I think the reason he spent the $6k was that he values his time and obviously has the $$$ to back it up. He was able to troubleshoot instantaneously with the guy he hired, leveraging his time to acquire real-live data. The more people understand this concept, the faster they too can leverage their time for 10X, 20X, 100X their output.
