I had to learn a roll-out / forward roll first, before I found the courage to invert myself above the rings at all. It was scary as hell... for the first two attempts lol. I then progressed to a bent-arm handstand, and pressed up. Now I'm doing straight-arm straddle press. Progressing way faster than I expected

Funny thing is that I've never practiced enough to balance a freestanding handstand on floor.

A handstand on floor does help but they are also a little bit different

Are there any tutorials online that you found helpful when leaning out to forward roll out /bail? I'd like to learn that too before getting completely inverted

I did a 3 second handstand on rings hold and I fell right on the mattress hahaha if it wasn't there I don't know what would happen to me.. Life saved but I'm much more motivated now, handstand on still rings can be scary as hell, but once you get over it you evolute like crazy

Nice and lol! Yeah handstands on rings just takes a lot of numbers and volume of training but you will get it.

Any tips for the balance or is thst just trial and error?
@ringsking8 ай бұрын
In my opinion, this is a skill that can take some volume of training time to get it. There is some position strength to develop and also to get used to the balance. I used to do a lot of holds with my feet on the straps but it wasn't until I made it an effort to do a lot of numbers of trying without the straps before I was able to get it. And good luck with your training!

Dam 😭😭 this looks like it's no where near for me to do, but that's one of my goals, I'm pretty heavy(always did weightlifting) so I am starting with the basics for now, I am at 250 pounds, anytips, I still do have body fat since I was out of the gym for 3 years 😭.

I'm scared about falling on my back, any tips?
@ringsking5 жыл бұрын
If you are on low rings and you happen to fall over forward you can roll your wrists and bend your arms and this can help absorb some of the power of the fall (on the high rings though you can rip off if you bend your arms because gravity can pull your arms straight when you swing through the bottom and you might not be able to hold on). You can also practice doing a small forward roll from just a front support on the low rings to an inverted hang or pike, by lifting your hips up some and ducking your head and on the low rings, roll your wrists and bend your arms and try and control your roll some. Good luck

@@ringsking Do you need lots of strength or is it more technique thing? My hands were kinda shaky when I was just holding my hands straight on the rings, then I gave up because there were other people at my gym and I didn't want to fail
@ringsking5 жыл бұрын
There is some strength required (more than just regular handstand position strength because you are also trying to keep the rings stable) but this can be built up with volume of training. Just keep at it and if you don't want to fall over, you can use the cables for a while and build up position strength there too. And you can also just get comfortable doing some tucked handstand work trying to get your hips up over your head but not necessarily all the way in a handstand yet. Also maybe try not to worry how you look in the learning process. Nobody learns everything perfect in a straight line forward without mistakes. The end goal is trying to get the skill and the learning process takes time and won't be perfect/doesn't have to look perfect/doesn't matter what people think

If you are on the low rings and you fall forward, you can bend your arms and roll your wrists and you should be ok
@ChumX1007 жыл бұрын
ringsking doesn't this trick also work on the high rings? This fear is what keeps me from trying there
@ringsking7 жыл бұрын
Hey Serninja, on the low rings, if you fall forward from a handstand and bend your arms and roll your wrists and try and muscle/kill your swing, you should be ok especially with your feet then hitting the ground. On the high rings this can work too, but if you don't kill your swing enough, when you swing through the bottom you could rip off. When gymnasts bail forwards or backwards from a handstand with grips on to do giants or other big swinging skills, the grips help them hold on and your arms need to be straight so there is no slack in the rings and they keep constant pressure on them so you can swing smoothly. If you bail from a handstand on high rings without grips and try and swing big and your arms are bent, gravity will make your arms go straight through the bottom and you will rip off. But on the high rings if you muscle/try and kill your swing and roll your wrists a lot, you can hold on as you swing through the bottom. Hope this helps and good luck with your training! (Try and get pretty comfortable falling forward on the low rings first, and maybe even bending your legs a lot so they don't hit the floor and you can see how it might feel for the high rings)
