Great video Morgan! I bring a baggy so I can take a muffin or pastry from the buffet for the long wait/trek back home.

Pretty much always eat breakfast on departure day in main dining room. Like others, I bring a baggie or 2 for take away some nibbles. Usually order meat/cheese plate in addition to regular breakfast food... stuff those in a roll for eating later. 3-4 hours out of frig has never caused us any issues. Also grab a fruit, cut in pieces & put in baggie for later. BTW... both quart/sandwich size & gallon size baggies are always a staple in my suitcase!

One other disembarkation tip- make sure you have a luggage tag that is waterproof. We used a paper tag or the printout paper tag, you need to have a strong luggage tag. I know of someone who was using a paper luggage tag and it was a rainy day. The tag either fell off because it got wet or the tag was torn off. Because the tag as missing, it wasn’t put in the spot that matched our receipt tag. To compound it- the person didn’t count the correct number of bags and didn’t realize the bag as missing for a day. When we called the port of Baltimore, they didn’t have a bag with that tag. They did have an unidentified bag. The cruise port of Baltimore is only open when there is a ship in port so this cruiser had to wait 2 days to check if that was her luggage. The port said the paper tag probably fell off because it was raining that day. Lesson learned- have luggage tags that are waterproof and strong.

I suggest having something that uniquely identifies your bag at the terminal to help prevent someone from taking the wrong bag, as so many look alike. We had a travel companion nearly lose his mind because another traveler walked away with his bag because it looked like hers and she did not bother to read the ID tag.

Yay Morgan!! Congratulations on reaching your goal! The last morning on the cruise is always sad. We have a ritual of getting our last free drink and taking one last walk around the open deck to chat without the kids😊 Happy Cruising!

We try to book our flights home for the day after the cruise ends. It makes re-entry into the real world a little easier. Most of our winter cruises are from Florida and who wants to go back north to a snowy home? We have a favorite place we like to stay and a favorite restaurant for breakfast place near the hotel. So, we have the bags taken down for us, do the walk off plan, hail a cab and go.

Many ports have other bus options besides a cruise lines that are typically half the price and just as comfortable. My favorite is in Seattle, Seattle express they pick you up from your hotel take you right to the cruise port unlike the Uber and cabs on the way back they pick you up right there so you don’t have to do that quarter-mile walk with your luggage to the official taxi/Uber stand.

Excellent debark info. Most of ours have been smooth by eating breakfast early and wait until after 9:30 to leave ship. No flights until 1pm or later

🎶 crystal energy water 🎶😂😂Oh my.. that's a trip waaaaay back in Morgan history! I think taking it easy on the drinking on the last night is an underrated tip. More than likely you're going to have a busy travel day coming up and navigating that while hungover? Ugh.

Thanks for the tips! For my next cruise, I booked the transport from the port to the airport since San Juan doesn't seem to have good public transport for that route. It was only $25USD., paid in advance, and one less thing to worry about on the last day! And I always have a meal or 2 in the freezer to ease the transition to being home! lol

The crew would probably appreciate it if I would go to my cabin at a decent time the final night. I always end up in a night spot, with people I've met throughout the week, with a drink and dancing until the wee hours. I'm trying to do better. 😣

I don't understand why Miami doesn't make it easier to get to the airport. Scheduled routes, direct from each terminal to the airport. The worst we had was Miami and we bought tickets at the terminal for a bus they raid was leaving "very soon". Got on, it was a good 45 min before we left. Then it made a few drops at hotels! No AC. It was terrible. We didn't know if there were multiple spots at the airport so we got off right away, and had to walk forever. Then walk half the way back. Then back again because the security lady directing people was not clear about were to send us... My poor mom.

On the last night of our cruise, our state room attendant basically waited until we put our bags out. I’m not sure if she was responsible for making sure I bags got picked up or not but essentially she was like waiting for us to put our stuff out. Our time for putting things out was 10:30 PM. They wanted us out of our cabin by 8:30 AM. I think it was close to 10 before we got off the ship as we went to breakfast and just hung out we were close to the last 50 people off the ship. Hey, you don’t know if I’m using all of the Starbucks mugs in my house that take up an entire book shelf I would say if you have just a short cruise where you have a carry on an early flight may be good. As soon as they clear the ship for disembarkation, you can be at the airport by 10 AM (depending on how far it is from the ship) . personally, I would not chance it as traffic is very unpredictable. At our airport, we have door numbers and once we find the door number we text the Uber driver what door number we are at.

I find disembarkation day stressful and which is probably quite common for the very reasons you mention. Figuring out how to get what you need in the morning packed so you can get it on the plane (if you have skin care and makeup liquids you need in the morning), making sure you can fit what you have left into your carry on items (like you charging hubs, brushes, etc.). Morgan, you've been to Barcelona and I booked the Leonardo La Rambla because you recommended it. I'm so excited to be going. My question is, as a solo female traveler, is it safe to take Uber/Lyft/public transit and/or taxis in Barcelona?
@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides3 ай бұрын
Oh, cool! Let me know what you think of it. I would say it definitely feels safer travelling around Barcelona during the daytime and wouldn't worry too much about taking the subway. Later at night, I would take a taxi directly to the hotel if you're coming from further away.

Uber drivers love to cancel you at the cruise port. I had an uber driver pulled up saw 6 bags an just drove away. Like he was gona load the bags by himself.
