HOW TO - LG TV Hotel Mode Unlock (32lx4dc) without service remote

This video shows the easy / cheap way to unlock an LG TV that has its HOTEL LOCK MODE turned ON.
$10 dollar option! Use the LST-4100A box:
1) Hold MENU on the remote until TV channel box shows upper right
2) press 2663 ENTER
3) turn the D-BOX to off
Now remove the box and use the TV like normal :)

Just wanna say thank you very very very much. i have one of these tvs and havent been able to master reset it so i can use the tv without the box in almost a year until just today as i followed your troubleshooting video. I mean i watched many videos and nothing. I even called LG to see if they could help and nothing. Marisol aguilares it's not listed as recommended, but this does work on dozens of models that aren't on that list. I have not tested this with that TV model but based upon what it does and what I've seen it should work. If for some reason it doesn't, then at least the box is cheap. Should work though.

I want to thank you sincerely for this vid. When I saw it nearly 1.5 yrs ago, after purchasing 2 TVs from a hotel resale shop, I thought it didn't apply since they didn't come with the D box--some hotels have a data line straight into the tuner card's data port, so why would one think THIS process applies, right? Been using the TVs still but have to change the input on power up every time and couldn't change sound. And NONE of the other options allowed me to get to the Installer menu mentioned in so many other sites. Something said give it another go...D-Box setting was indeed on, turned off and problem solved.

I'm not sure if it will or not, as the box is only listed to work on 1 particular model. That said, there is a very large number of TV's it has been known to work on. It's a cheap option to try, so if it works or even if it doesn't, share your results on here so that we can continue to help each other out.

Honestly, I have no idea. But... Based on an educated guess, I would try it. LG makes nearly every single brand's LCD/LED screens and most of the boards that control them. The only real difference in any brand TV these days is the 1st bit sent in binary code from the remote to the IR receiver, very similarly to how cellphones know to receive a call or not... obviously not in IR though, and on a much larger scale, and hexadecimal, etc. Nerd talk aside, I would try it with the same remote the TV would have come with. For sure, don't use a universal remote as those never work to do what you're asking. If it does work, post up and let me know :)

2 questions. Q1. When you say "Hold Menu on the remote until TV channel box shows upper right", do you mean the Q.Menu button on the upper right of the remote or the Menu Settings button below the OK Enter button in middle of remote. Q2. The RS 232 cable, do I want a cable with female end on both sides? In your video I see one female end but I cant tell what gender is needed on the other end that attaches to the LST-4100A. thanks

A1) Menu. Its the one close to the Enter button. A2) Its the connector that is different from all the rest of them and should say something like Service by it, and it's Female from the TV, Male from the Cable.

The back of my 32L-X560H does not have RS-232C input (CONTROL SERVICE). It has RGB IN (PC) connector and also it has a smaller square type connector with a little circle input in the middle labeled SERVICE ONLY. Can you comment?

Well it's certainly not the PC input connector, as that is for using the TV as a large computer monitor (which is what I use mine for actually). The Service Only input is likely where you would connect to a diagnostics or D-Box to. Being a different model than any of the ones I have, I can't be certain how you would go about unlocking it from Hotel mode. The good news is that LG makes almost every single TV screen on the market, no matter what brand it's labeled as. You could probably use the TV remote it came with and follow the unlocking directions without using any service box or service remote. If this works, or even if it doesn't, please let us know so we can add it to the list of working and not working. Thanks.

Meicy Oliver if the programmable remote has a number pad then you should be able to. A simple Google search for the model number I show in the video will lead you to a lot of places that sell the box.

You should be able to set the TVLINK back to the way it was with the same steps you took to get there. In this mode it likely won't show the menus until the menu you need shows up though. Have you tried connecting the box and holding the RESET button for several seconds? How about holding the Menu button on the remote while the box is connected?

Yes and the status light no longer comes on flashing. That is why I am asking about a flash program for the LST-4100A. I get nothing but a Cadtv, I believe, channel 15-1 or something. None of the menus work with the remote or the TV with or without the box connected. The box reset does nothing to the TV. I think I accidentally hit either the power only or the RS232 setting on the TVLINK Configuration Menu while trying to get out of it. If there is a way to get the TVLINK menu back on I think it can be fixed through there.

You don't need the service remote, but you do need to have the regular remote control for these. A universal remote will not unlock Hotel mode. The good news is, you'll only need to buy 1 remote and I've been getting a lot of feedback that you can do this without the D-box as well.

What do you mean by aux ports? There is usually one or none of the traditional types of those on a modern TV.

I'm doing the same exact steps, I just don't have the remote to bring up the menu and such. Once you reset everything and then try to use the buttons (on the t.v.) everything works besides t.v./video. In your video you use a remote to bring up the menu and I can't access this without the remote that came with the t.v.

Ahh there is the issue. You have to type in the code to get the menu up, then select to allow use of those inputs. Without the remote I don't see it working for you at all. I also know that universal remotes don't work to unlock this either. Maybe the ones with full number pads might, but so far no one has had any luck getting it to work without the original style remote.

jimmie hoffman it's not a programmable remote. it's just the standard boring stock one that comes with the TV. As long as there is a physical number pad and it's not the remote to a smart TV, any standard remote for that brand should work just like this.
