This is all too complicated for me. I'm just going to drill holes and stick Christmas lights in. Then when they burn out I'll pull them out and put new ones in. Thanks!!! As an added note, thank you guys, really, for speaking with clarity, because it is so hard for me to get this stuff. I need people to repeat things over and over again for me to understand it because I have autism and I just don't get it, no matter how many times you tell me. I get so frustrated and I just give up. You have done a great job here. Maybe eventually I will try it your way. I have saved it to my Crafts playlist just in case. I love my dollhouses. Thank you so much. I mean it.

I find it confusing too, mine came with copper tape that I have just managed to remove as I didn’t know what to do with it. I’ve had to remove all carpets and start again. The easiest way on here I think is to drill holes in the ceiling and then make a little ridge from the hole. Then the wire can travel along and come out another hole at the back of the house. Removing the wires looks a little difficult but I’m about to try. Julie Warren has a great KZbin channel and is really helpful with doll house topics, in case anyone needs more help. Good luck with your lights

@@SouthernBelleReviews this channel has a several part series on wiring dollhouses, this is Part 2 where she shows a practice board. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4KTdn5np8-JZ7s. And she's only using foam core for her practice board. it's a brilliant idea to practice first on that before possibly messing up your actual building. I've seen people use copper tape and soldering it, and others use round wires and depending on how large or sturdy the house is, one is better than the other. I can't remember which though. Something about large houses or flimsy houses made with thin wood being moved around a lot might short out the connection. The battery operated ones are ok for a small house, but the more lights you have, like a chandelier with lots of lights, or just bigger houses, then having the entire house wired theoretically seems easier. I think I'm on the autism spectrum too, but worked in the computer science field for awhile and even took a little soldering class by mail, came with tools and a little soldering iron for electronics. I also took metal shop in high school even though I'm a girl, well, an old lady now, but electrical still confuses the heck out of me. I was a math major but trying to understand the volts and ohms and Amps and how to convert them to calculate how much power I'd need to put enough lights in and have room for more, I get that eyes glazed over deer-in-the- headlights look. You are not alone.

I did make a mini Christmas tree, with a small battery operated strand of 10 LED lights. I don't think LEDs ever burn out, but dollhouse lightbulbs might. Anyway my trees battery pack is hidden inside a fake gift box that is always under the tree, so it's movable, removable from the house etc. I have a small four room house someone else built. They put in a fireplace, but it's directly on the hardwood floor. I need to make a stone or brick hearth to put a fire in there with a tealight probably. And there's no chimney, maybe it's one of those electric fireplaces.

Very helpful. The most fiddly bit was reconnecting the plugs to the lights after feeding the wires through the back of the house . I now know why that part of the process isn’t covered in the video !!

My grandad build an amazing six room dolls house with individual lights & switched in each room and a battery in the attic. Unortunately the individual switches in the rooms have corroded (over30 years old) and I want to get it working for my niece. Is there anywhere I can buy these individual light switches that will work with a 12 V battery running fairy lights from each ceiling? Can’t find anything on eBay. Thanks

No, what they are is polite. They also have no idea of the ages, or the levels of expertise, of the people who will be listening, so they've defaulted to slow & easy. And you Malcolm, and you Mersey, are beyond rude.
@tessthemess7867 жыл бұрын
Karen Copeland so it's rude to point out they dumbed it down? If pointing out their subjective perception is rude, how do you survive the real world with other's opinions? Or do you just live in your doll house? Now that, that last sentence is a decent example of being rude.

@dollshouseemporium11 жыл бұрын
Hi rockinrobin, in this video we are using the quick style kit which has the grooves already chased into the floor for lights. If you are using a non quick style kit we would recommend using a dremel or similar tool to cut into the floor. We recommend you do this before building your house and to cut in a well ventilated area, remember to wear a dusk mask and safety glasses!

What paint do I need to paint the plastic interior doors and how do I prepare them first please help I'm at a stand still. Thank you
@gilliancoates15536 жыл бұрын
Hi Janice, Have a look at the Plastikote spray paint range which has primers and fantastic colours. Easy to use (you'll need to remove the doors first ideally and then spray outdoors, or use a cardboard box to contain the drift) and because they are sprays you won't get brush marks which are amplified on a 1/12th scale and can spoil the look of your doll's house.
