How to Light a Pilot Light

Pilot lights go out fairly often in commercial kitchens, which can leave your range, oven, or fryer unable to function. To reignite the pilot light in your range, all you'll need is a long butane lighter. Since gas is constantly flowing through the unit, simply locate the pilot in the burners and light it.

If you're reigniting the pilot light in your oven, start by turning the pilot light down all the way and waiting five minutes for it to cool. Press the gas safety valve, allow the gas to release through the oven, ignite the pilot, and slowly release the safety valve. To ignite the pilot light on your fryer, turn the unit off, turn the gas safety valve to pilot, hold it for about 30 seconds, light the pilot, and turn the fryer on once you have a steady flame.
