In a bit of a pinch I used a paper towel saturated with vegetable oil. It works well enough where I never bought any wood starters again.

Thanks for the video!! I won an XL EGG in a contest, and I’m trying to learn! I’m going to try and cook your Maple and Bourbon Beef Short Ribs this week from the Egg magazine. Thanks again!

Would love to see how you approach putting some wood chunks in there too after the fire is lit.

I find lighting the egg with a piece of paper towel soaked with vegetable oil works as well as anything for lightening the egg. I have a propane weed eater and that will light the egg in a hurry but it scares my wife and I am not usually in a hurry when I use the egg. Watched a few of your recipes they looked delicious and I will add some of them to my repertoire. My egg is now 13 years old so the initial cost might have been high but I would be on my third gas bbq now while the green egg is working as well as it did on the first day and the operator is a little more proficient. Looking forward to seeing your pizza oven in operation.

@@ChefDez oh ok I’ve had an issue for a long time with the fire staying lit and I ended up completely cleaning it out and went with a small pile and it worked out great

@ChefDez11 ай бұрын
@@h1ddenmist259 not necessarily. It’s all about air flow. If it’s packed with a whole bunch of small pieces, then maybe. But I’ve had the firebox heaped with no issues
