How to Lime a Parking lot before placing the Concrete

Just something I do personally. When we do slurry, we get gradation the first day of mixing and they pull samples for density. We don’t usually remix slurry because the lime is already activated.

When you first lay it down, mix it. Let it burn off for 24 hours then mix it again. You have to roll it over twice. Thanks for the comment

8" is what usually specified from the engineer. Depends on the sole report ,and the engineer on how deep they wanted to go

Also, How did you calculate the tonnage needed for the 33,600 sqft to get a 6% mix? Does the geo-tech report give you a percentage they require? Thanks in advance. I have been learning earthwork and moved to larger projects that require soil stabilizing.

The percentages are in the Geotech report. Each project is different some require 6% dry soil weight while some require 7%. Calculations are given in the report as well.

The lab tells us what percentage we need. From there it's calculating the dry weight of the dirt that you're going to mix.

The slurry is mixed at the plant when it's brought in on the truck . When we do dry on the job, after we mix it up we water it.

We have some of the worst soil in the nation. It swells 1 inch per foot for the first 3 feet of earth. This neutralizes that swelling and stiffens up the dirt.

The engineers require it to be in liquid. Our soil has a tendency to swell and shrink 1 inch per foot, the water helps change the PI make up of the soil. Thanks for watching
