How To Link 2 Instances Of Cubase or Nuendo on the Same Computer

In this short video we will have a quick look at how to link or sync two instances / versions of Cubase and / or Nuendo together on the same computer. This enables us to play both versions in sync and pass audio and MIDI from one application to the other. This can be very useful.
Sorry there is no talking in this video (haha maybe you prefer it this way?), as I currently have laryngitis.

I am missing the point of this. What are some potential beneficial examples of use cases please? (On the same computer) I am thinking of trying this across 2 computers to help CPU load for heavy synths

Hi there, the use cases for this are too many to put in a KZbin comment tbh. But for example, you can use one version to instantiate a standard set of instruments, like a VSL Pro kind of thing. This can often solve issues with performance and also means you can have a standard template of instruments that can be accessed by the other DAW. I understand why you would ask this, but the video was aimed at folks who ask this question a lot. And to show that it is indeed possible. Across two computers will obviously save CPU on each, and the setup is very similar. :-)

@@PhilPendlebury Thanks for your reply. I am probably missing the point :-? i'm thinking there are a few different ways to achieve pretty much the same without having multiple (resource hungry) DAW instances open. if using a single computer, i would probably run a single instance of Cubase (already avoiding the additional resource load of launching a 2nd local Cubase instance). also if using a single pc, i would probably just run a single instance of cubase and have multiple different local templates i could launch, or different 'special purpose' project files that i could open in background and then could copy/paste into my active project from? Apologies if I've misunderstood

@@waynejovis Yup. Unless you wanted to do this for some reason then, you’re missing the point I guess. As I mentioned, too much to discuss in KZbin comments. But the video was a short example of how it can be achieved, in answer to a bunch of questions from various sources. Not really about why you could use it. For that you can have a search around Forums and Google etc. and you’ll find the answers.
