THE PROPER ADVICE. 1: No hamsters are social,dwarfs could be housed together but if they fight,move immediately. 2: Please do not use 2 stories or small pet store cages. You can easily buy 60+ gallon fish tank or IKEA deltof. 3: hamsters need 450sq(square inches) not 60 inches! (Or more.) 4: please get the right wheel for your hamster.Do not buy mesh,wire or saucers. Buy a silent spinner or comfort wheel. 5: Water bowls are better then water bottles,so use that instead. 6: If you give your hamster enough bedding (8 inches is the best.) you can clean it out monthly. If you clean it out daily it will stress your hamster a lot.Leave some old bedding so they are familiar to the scent of the bedding. 7: Some fruits mentioned in this video contain a lot of sugar,such as the strawberry’s and peaches. Only give a slice of the strawberry and peach as a treat,not as daily feeding. 8: There is more then twigs for hamster dental care.There is fruit chews,sticks,etc. 9: Hamsters can have heat strokes,but you can leave them in a cool,well ventilated room and provide cool water each day during the summer. 10: Sand baths have not even been mentioned in this video. You can’t give hamsters water baths bc they have oils on their skin. You can buy a little hide and play sand will be good. 11: If you need any tips on owning a hamster,reply to my comment. Also,watch erin animals and Victoria Rachel.

this video gives very bad advise. I've made a list of correct info for everyone. 1. Not social animals. They will fight causing ingurey or even death, dwarf hamster can live together though but if they fight move them immediantly 2. They do not need two stories. they just need one very large space 3.They need at least 450sq of floor space. larger is better. 4.Aquariums are good for all hamsters> 60 gallons or more 5.With enough bedding you do not need to clean you're hamster cage weekly. Monthly. Cleaning your hamster cage fully every week is very stressful for them. At least leave 50% of the old clean bedding so that they are fimiliar to the scent. 6. Do not give your hamsters plastic or paper bags. 7.Hamsters also need animal protiens like meel worm and grains. 8.Do not give you're hamster meshed or wired weel. 11'' at least Sorry for he spelling mistakes. hope these help. not a expert but i am better then these people!

This is incorrect you could even kill your hamster by leaving this advice. 1. Do NOT use CrittleTrail, use something of nonthing smaller than 450 sq inches, or 30' by 15' and you can even use an aquarium tank, but it needs to be at least more than 50 gallons and you do not need a 2 story cage or tank because Hamsters are ESCAPE ARTISTS, not CLIMBER ARTISTS. 2. Never EVER put two Hamsters together it is risky and you have a better chance of your two male and female hamsters dying. 3. with enough bedding like 8 inches like I have, you do not have to clean it each week or month, change it every 4 months. 4. Do not give your hamsters stuff they can get their teeth stuck or choked on like bags or small plastic toys left around. 5. Do not leave half of the tank old and new, I know you think that they will not get your scent if you clean it all but it is wrong. 6. for hamsters seeds, grains, worms, are good for you little hamster 7. DO NOT GIVE YOUR HAMSTER MESHED, BUMP, WIRED WHEELS.wheel size: Dwarf Hamster 6 inches. Chinese Hamster 8 inches.camperbell hamster 6-8 inches.Syrian Hamster 6.5 inches.Roborovski Hamster 8 inches. 8. DO NOT use WATER to BATHE YOUR HAMSTERS, use sand bathes, and do not use anything that is DUSTED OR POWDERED, it can give a scent and your hamster can die. 9. DO NOT place your hamster near windows or TVs, Computers or laptops, and pls do not place near speakers. 10. if you're going to buy a flying saucer have a bigger cage than 30' by 15' 11. Always bring a travel cage for evacuation or traveling, because one time I had a Syrian Hamster and there was a huge earthquake and my hamster cage fell and broke and I picked him up and just held him during the earthquake and it lasted about a 1-2 minutes and I was walking outside and I saw one of the mountains collapses down *by the way I live near Corona City* and I didn't notice for 5 minutes I think that he jumped and a couple weeks went by and I saw him in my backyard, his head squished by a rock. 12. And that is it, do not listen to people on youtube, first research it and cuss at incorrect KZbinrs. Edit: In the hamster wheels for Syrians hamsters 🐹 I meant 8-12 not 6.5 and thank you Sophia
@sophiaberger72904 жыл бұрын

The minimum is 100cmx50cm for all species which has been scientifically proven. Hamsters need at least 6 inches of bedding but 10 inches is recommended. Actually you should leave 1/2-1/3 of the old bedding in, this is to minimise stress For wheels, Syrian and Chinese hamsters need a minimum of a 28cm/11 inch wheel and for dwarves and robos the minimum is 20cm/7 inches. Flying saucer/disc wheel aren’t recommended as they make your hamster run in an unnatural “c” or “s” shape no matter how big it is, a flying saucer should never replace an upright wheel of appropriate size. So I highly suggest you research, instead of thinking you know everything. - hamsters need a cage that is 80cmx50cm equivalent to 4,000cm squared however scientific research has been released showing the minimum to be 100cmx50cm which is equivalent to 5,000cm squared -hamsters cage environment shouldn’t exceed 22 degrees Celsius any warmer can cause serious health issues and over heating, any lower than 18 degrees Celsius can cause your hamster to go into torpor which is extremely deadly and has a high mortality rate. -wood bedding isn’t recommended because it cannot hold burrows and many forms of wood bedding is toxic such as softwoods (pine and cedar) which is what most pet shop woods are made out of are highly toxic to animals because of the hydrocarbons it releases causing to be toxic, paper bedding (unscented) is the best bedding to use, a minimum of 6 inches is needed to allow them to burrow. - water bottles aren’t recommended because they have a high chance of blocking/naming causing dehydration, it can chip teeth, it can hurt their neck etc, shallow water bowls such as a tea light holder is recommended because it’s more natural and doesn’t cause any damage. -most commercially prepared foods aren’t safe and does not have the best nutritional value at all, Huggins sunburst, puur hamster food etc are all great for hamsters…do not feed fruit and vegetables daily, as this can cause serious health problems like diarrhoea, picky eating et, they should be given 2 times a week and no portion should be bigger than the size of their ear; be careful when feeding dwarves and robos fruits and sugary vegetables as they are prone to diabetes. - scientific evidence has proven that hamsters can have small amounts of chocolate because they aren’t allergic to theobromine at all and it was way less than rats! So they can have small pieces of chocolate. -all species of hamsters are solitary even dwarves and robos, they are deemed more likely to live together however this isn’t recommended even by experienced owners as they will always become territorial, fight and kill each other. -all species of hamsters need a wheel, for dwarves and robos the minimum is 20cm and for Syrians and Chinese hamsters the minimum is 28cm-33cm -sand baths are necessary for all species of hamsters, this is how they bathe as they aren’t allowed to be in water or get wet, sand that are safe are, childrens non-toxic play sand with no dyes (has to be baked on 180 degrees Celsius for 30 mins) or reptile sand with no calcium or dyes (this can be put straight in) -hamsters aren’t advised for small children as they are fragile, need a lot of care/attention and money, they are also crepuscular meaning they are awake at twilight hours which means when we go to bed they will be awake. Some useful links for information on how to care for a hamster are; Victoria Raechel on KZbin kzbin.info Erin’s animals on KZbin kzbin.info Munchies place on KZbin kzbin.info Fantastic website is www.hamsterwelfare.com Appropriate “human” food to feed your hamster and food safety. ontariohamsters.ca/education/Food-safety.html I really hoped this help!

umm.... i wanted to point out some things that are wrong that he said well.... the cage has to be 145 square inches of floor space. if you want a mesh lid with a tank then make sure the tank is 40 gallons large! and hamsters live for 3 years. not and hamsters are not allowed to be together or they will strike each other and 7 days later the will start killing. SO DO NOT PUT THEM TOGHER! and also, hamsters can not be in water. the clean themselfs, with sand. make sure its dust free, make sure you spot clean there cage every day, clean there hole entire cage once every month, make sure you have carefresh bedding and do not get pine bedding. it has dust, its pokey, and they don't give you enough in there bags. i may be 8, but i know all this because i did research for 2 years, then got 3 hamsters. don't worry! i did't put them together. and lastly, do not give them levels. just because u put 5 cages and 5 levels on top of each other, does not cont as more floor space. plus, hamsters hate climbing! and it would be great if you could subscribe to my channel QueenAvery! here is how you spell it : QueenAvery!

Hiya I've got a hamster, jangles, I only got her a month or two ago, she is extremely calm, never bit me or anyone else and is sociable with me and my family, she loves people, I did a normal health check: eg checking the eyes, looking at the teeth the basics: there was one that im concerned about, her hearing, she isn't responding to normal noises around the tank she lives in, such as me playing music around her, she simply does not respond, I tried taping on the glass: no response I tried gently shaking the lid: no response, she just kept on drinking, I've tried clicking sounds around her to look for a response: nothing, is there anything I can do to see if I can do anything about it? Thank you -Bee & Miss Jangles

Don't try to get a response from this channel because what they have said in the video is just so horribly wrong. My roborovsky hamsters has the same thing, and tbh i think its normal. Showing a gerbil in the video?? Since when do they live 5 years unless their EXTREMELY well taken care of. Since when do they also need 2 LEVELS? They can fall and injur themselves.

Listen, im at your age, and please if you want to buy a hamster, there are 3 steps. 1-Do actuall reaserch because videos like this one are the definition of harmfull missinformation, hamsters are not social at all and much more. (I reccomend Victoria Reachel youtube channel) 2-Buy everything you need and make sure its not some junk, you will throw out after a month. Just make sure that what you buy is actually good, there is a lot of stuff harmfull or useless for hamsters. (Again I reccomend Victoria Reachell for that) 3-After you got everything, don't buy a hamster from a petshop, overall don't buy stuff from petshops, they litteraly get those hamsters from breeding warehouses where they abuse and kill those poor pets. If you buy a hamster make sure its from a good breeder. It can seem something hard but for real its not that much, after an hour long reaserch you should know a lot of stuff about proper care for hamsters, keeping them is not hard. The only hard thing is to buy all the good stuff in the first place.

ik i’m a year late but there is a lot wrong with this 1.) he said hamsters r social which they r not.. at all 2.) he said hamsters like tall cages which is not true they r bad climbers and adding extra levels will not do anything for the hamster 3.) he said to clean the cage every week which is not necessary and is very stressful for ur hamster u can spot clean everyday but u do a deep clean once a month 4.) he said to do a full clean and doing a full clean is very stressful bc the hamster feels like they r in a whole new environment since there is not any of the hamsters smells in the cage u should only clean the soiled bedding which is like 1/3 or 1/2 of the bedding. the rest is clean and can be left in there 5.) at 2:01 he showed a hamster in a hide filled with fluff which if the hamster digest can wrap up in their stomach and suffocate them 6.) he said to give 2 portals of veggies everyday which is way to much u can feed veggies every 2-3 days too much veggies can give hamsters diarrhea 7.) he said to use wood or pellets for bedding which should not be used because u can’t burrow in the pellet bedding and wood bedding is bad for hamsters and can give them respiratory issues, paper based bedding is good especially when mixed with hay it will hold burrows very well i think there is more but i didn’t wanna list everything cuz this is getting long

The only wood bedding that is safe is aspen and hemp, but this isn’t recommended by itself as it cannot hold up burrows which is why paper based bedding is much better.
