Teaching you how to loop Englishman in New York by Sting (and NOT the Police) 😂 This is how I loop it all in one loop as seen in this video: • Englishman In New York...
Thanks to Markus for suggesting I make this tutorial on how to loop it, and I hope it gives you a new song for your loop repertoire man!
In both videos I'm using the Voicelive 3 for the loops, and for the different sounds and guitar tones including the bass. amzn.to/2J5Pza9
The bass tone video I reference in this loop tutorial is - • How I get my Bass Guit...
PS. Who saw the original Englishman in New York cover I uploaded before seeing this tutorial? 🤔🤷‍♂️

Quick shortcut guide ---> Part 1: 1:05 Part 2: 4:56 Part 3: 6:28 Part 4: 7:42 After that I talk about breaking down the bridge, my tone/fx for playing over the loop, and a little bit about the solo and chorus sections. Have fun!

Hi David, I love your loopings so thank you for all your video's. Just a question, I have also bought a octaver but when I put it on, the sound just sounds awful, it is an distorted sound that I get. Do you have any idea what the reason is for that? Your bass sound sounds awesome. Thanks and regards Michel
@davidshanhun
@davidshanhun 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there - can you tell me which Octave pedal you have bought? If it's the oc-3 there are a couple of options on it, one of which is a distorted bass haha. Let me know the pedal you've got and we'll figure it out from there!

Hi John! Nice to say hi on the live session the other night. The Mode is Aeolian - A minor with a b7. (My guitar is tuned to Eb however, so it is likely Ab Aeolian! Happy practising!

Love this tutorial! Thanks! For the lead part, how do you dial in the gain for the acoustic lead sound? Do you keep it relatively low on the pedal and then dial in the volume? Just was curious how you found the balance. Sounded great!

Hi David, thanks for your explanations. I love how you play this song. And now, I try to do it like you. But, I wondered what is the scale you use to improvise? Thanks again and now I watch all your videos from France ;)
@davidshanhun
@davidshanhun 4 жыл бұрын
How are you going with it? The scale is A minor or C major that is my basis for the solo here - or at least that's how I imagine it even though I'm tuned to Eb etc (so you'll actually hear it like Ab minor/Bmajor). I chat a bit through the solo ideas I use in Englishman in New York in this video if it's useful to you :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZq3Y4t6lsmLbLc

@@davidshanhun Not too bad - we haven't started drinking the bath water yet. A few gig postponements that will test our meagre savings to the max, so we're hoping that a bandcamp album will bring in enough to keep the lights going. If you could share it when it's baked, I'd be mighty grateful. I'm sure you know but Bandcamp are waiving royalties tomorrow (friday). It's 8.30 am here - so I have 24 hours to mix and master 9 tracks. Looks like I picked the wrong day to give up the crack. Love ya man - be safe :)

@@MatONeill just saw it in my email brother - good work matey and awesome to see that you made it happen. Will share shortly :) Interesting mix here in the scene - a lot of muso's have simply gone to 0 for upcoming gigs booked, but there are also still quite a few gigs happening atm. Seems to take a bit more work to lift people to have a laugh but still possible, and there's more people than ever before searching for entertainment online. Some unique opportunities around for some cool new online gig options that we probably haven't had before!
