Hi Kells,thanks for this demo, not only informative but fun to watch:) Do you know if you can use the effects without using the looper? If i wish to plug in a synth and use the lofi effect for example, and record it to the DAW, would it work? Peace.
@Kellsstringz
@Kellsstringz 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Kiosko - thanks for checking out the video and the message! I don’t believe you can use the effects running thru the looper live I think you can just put them on what is looped. You could totally throw down a loop and run that from the pedal w the effect on it into your DAW and then edit it from the daw but yeah that’s probably not exactly what you’re looking for. I would prob recommend finding a good Lofi plugin for your DAW and run your midi keys/synth through that for recording.. If I run into anything good will shoot a message on here - Peace ✌🏼

@Kellsstringz
@Kellsstringz 8 ай бұрын
THank you! Glad to hear it was helpful. Not sure exactly the question so I'll just over answer here haha but you basically stop the loop by hitting the right foot pedal, if you have multiple (2 ) tracks going you hit the right pedal twice fast to stop both at the same time. Then to delete the loops you hold down the right pedal with the top of your foot and pivot to hit the left pedal with your heal so they're both being pressed down at the same time starting with the right pedal... this will DELETE / CLEAR the whole loop so don't do that if you want to save it but if you want it all deleted you can do that. the screen will indicate that it's cleared/deleted. Does that make sense or answer your question? Let me know if not and I'll see if I can help further!

@Kellsstringz
@Kellsstringz 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ruud - Sounds like some awesome loops you've got going on. Two ways you can flip from one track to the other and play - if u go to timestamp about 2:55 in the video I think I demonstrate this. With Feet: If you hold down on the right foot pedal, you'll see the light jump from track 1 to track 2, hold it down again (the right foot pedal) to switch back from track 2 to 1. By Hand: You can do the same thing by hand by actually clicking on the lights buttons under select. That is honestly probably the fastest way to do it if your hands are free. If you're looking to do a lot more quick turn ons and off on multiple tracks with singing for instance and samples, you might be interested in the (more expensive but more diff tracks available) Boss RC-505 tabletop looper. I don't like work for Boss or anything I'm just enthusiastic about loopers and pedals in general. Hope this is at all helpful and feel free to shoot any other questions! happy loopin!

Can you play track one (let’s say it’s a percussive beat) on a one measure loop and then play track 2 (guitar part) on a longer 3 measure loop? Every time I try it forces me to play the track 2 loop the same length as the track 1 loop
@Kellsstringz
@Kellsstringz 2 жыл бұрын
This is a great question Vince. Basically the very first track you record sets the timeframe of everything else. So you can’t really have the first loop be 2 measures and the second (within the same song) be 3.. you could put down a percussive 4 measure loop and then add a loop to it that doesn’t use all 4 measures but maybe has something in the second and fourth measure, for example. Does that make sense ? Hope that’s helpful. Rock on 🤘🏼
@vincelujan2873

@@Kellsstringz it does make sense. My goal was to make a simple percussion loop with my guitar and then on the second track loop it longer with Guitar parts but seems that won’t work. It’s ok I’ll figure something out.

can i have my keyboard and guitar both connect with rc30 at the same time?
@Kellsstringz
@Kellsstringz 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Yes you can if you patch one via quarter inch cable and the other through an XLR cable.. Probably it would be quarter inch cable out from your keyboard into the looper and if you have a DI for the guitar you can patch the guitar into the DI quarter inch and out of the DI with an XLR cable into the looper. Does that make sense ?

Hi I really like your video, but I have a problem When I record the tune there is always a short pause after and then it starts to play again. That's why the loop isn't smooth. I don't think it should be like that and I don't know what to do.
@Kellsstringz
@Kellsstringz 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Megan! Thanks for checking out the video and your message! Try hitting the left pedal right when you’re finished playing what you want to loop. I can do a video on this.. depending on how the measures of your loop line up you want to click a pedal to stop the loop (that you’re playing / recording live) on the downbeat of the measure that the loop is supposed to start again in. It’s a bit complicated to try and explain but give it a try and please let me know if any of that makes sense. If it’s still confusing, let me know. 👊🏼🙌🏼

How many loops can it do
@Kellsstringz
@Kellsstringz 3 жыл бұрын
Good question Alfie - First off you have 2 separate tracks to each loop ie you have two tracks to keep layering over in one loop. You can save / "write" up to 99 loops saved in the loopstation but ALSO you can save and transfer your loops into your computer as WAV files via the USB 2.0 port from the loopstation. Does that make sense?

@@Kellsstringz actually one more question. How many loops can you record on each track. Like how many times can you overdub. If that makes sense
@Kellsstringz
@Kellsstringz 3 жыл бұрын
@@alfiemusic1370 hey Alfie yeah totally... basically I think you can just keep layering and layering as much as you want... the issue you will end up having, though, is after two many of the same instrument’s layers on one track , it will get muddy.. this is due to too much of the same frequencies clogging up a track. Does that make sense? There’s nothing differentiating the EQs of the instrument. So one thing that can help this is make sure you don’t later too much of the same thing. Change up the ranges and the types of layers. ie if you’re using guitar have some rhythm and lead and not too many lead in the same range. You could use the other track for layering voice or beatbox or bass. You can turn on a pedal to change the sound or tone of a layer. On my Billie Eilish cover of bad guy I use an octave pedal to make the pizz layer sound like a bass for eg. it doesn’t compete frequency wise with the other higher strings that come later.

@Kellsstringz
@Kellsstringz 3 жыл бұрын
It’s okay - not a dumb question! It is a bit tricky bc there’s no on/off switch. First, you have to make sure it has power source by either batteries or power cable. Then, once you plug in your instrument or mic input +output cables (I can’t remember which one is the trigger) but once they’re plugged in, the whole pedal will turn on. Hope that’s helpful and happy loopin!

@@Kellsstringz Thanks a million for the quick & patient response, Sister! I've tried those things but I think, since it's an old, well-worn unit I borrowed to see if I should buy one, the problem could be in the power cord or somewhere else. With simple-to-follow tutorials like yours, though, I feel pretty confident about getting "the hang" of it. I bought a Helicon VL3 Extreme Harmonizer & the looper on that insane mega-gadget almost scared me away from looping forever! Thanks, again!
@Kellsstringz
@Kellsstringz 3 жыл бұрын
@@pyannaguy4361 check the power chord to make sure it's the right one... with THIS particular BOSS pedal, it has a designated power cable so you can't unfortunately just plug a regular 1 spot into it, if that makes sense? In terms of getting one, I personally, obviously haha think it's a great pedal! It depends on what you want to do with it really... it's a thousand times better than the next step down of the boss loopers which are around the 100-150$ price range... and it doesn't have as many channels as the next step UP which would be the RC-300 which is about $600 so to me it's right in that sweet spot coming in at about $300 for just the pedal if you buy it new. I've never used the Helicon before... it sounds a bit difficult.. cool that there's a harmonizer too but yeah. The nice thing about this looper is it also has all the effects I went over in the video. In any case, best of luck with all your looping and thanks for the questions. Definitely happy to help!

My face is red! BUT..in the meantime, a looper hero, Reggie Watts also was nice enough to give me a bit of time AND I watched his demo of the EHX 95000, & as sophisticated as it looks, it also looks quite learnable & intuitive.
