I'm down 10 kilos (22 lbs) in 3 weeks cutting out sugar (including most fruit), bread (flour-based carbohydrates), and all lactose. I'm walking with my pup for a half hour a day and I've just started the 18:6 last week with intense 5x 30s/1min rest workout and will be doing it 3x week for skin with the 24 hr fast once a week. I also consume a supplement with African Mango and green tea and a bunch of other good stuff, a ginseng B-vitamin, a tablespoon of high-polyphenolic olive oil a day and cold brew coffee throughout the day. I started at 240lbs, 43yr female and had high insulin, triglycerides and cholesterol numbers which triggered my change, along with my 44" waist (I'm only 5'4). Down to 218 lbs (98kilos) and going strong. Thank you for all the accessible tips and accumulated knowledge, it is much appreciated after what feels like a lifetime of struggling with weight and motivation for a healthy lifestyle ❤

Update: very hard to adhere to the 18:6, energy levels very low which triggered cravings. It has taken about a week and a half to get back on track. Doing the same, but eating light meals throughout the day to sustain energy and will try and get back to the intermittent once workouts become like second nature to me. Down to 94/95 kilos but have hit a bit of a plateau. I find it difficult to plan and cook for the household when I'm not partaking....

He must want to give up is the first thing. I know you love your son very much but it all has to start with him, taking one day at a time. I bought some nicotine patches, but I only used them for 2 weeks. The biggest part of giving up smoking is the habit of putting the cigarette in the mouth and lighting it. I used to roll my own. I switched to Ben’s suggested eating window and that alone has helped me so much ! Even my thinking has improved. I had already cut out the veg oils. I walked by gooey chocolate home-made snacks at work and had zero desire- its only a few days, I am going to take the rest of his suggestions here, and will check back with results. Great tips Ben! I need to lose weight in the next month for knee surgery and quicker rehab and recovery. I may not do everything you list, but the one thing I HAVE to improve is my sleep at the right times. And I need to eat early in the day and stop eating early or late in the afternoon. That's going to be hard for me because I'm used to evening or night eating 3-4 hours before bed. And I need to stop all quick and processed foods. 😊 I did NOT know that about fish oil. I thought since fish oil is in sealed gel caps, as long as it a good name brand high quality fish oil, not a dollar store, and keep them in the frig, I believe it's ok. I don't eat fish that often or none, and you have no idea how much EPA and DHA you're getting as it is quantified in the capsules and put on the label.

I gained 20 pounds on carnivore bcs I just couldn't sleep! I lost those 20 pounds after reintroducing about 250 grams of carbs a day from fruits and honey! So....we can absolutely lose weight while releasing insulin and eating carbs. And no, I didn't calorie restrict. The ability to sleep and keep stresshormones low helped me lose the weight I gained on carnivore. Not saying that carnivore can't be great but I just never could fat adapt even though I've done it for almost 2 years in total.

Of course you did . More than likely because you were over eating . You can still gain unwanted weight on carnivore if you are not doing it right. If you are eating high fat, 4 oz of say beef fat trimmings is almost 1000 cals., that isn't a lot. Maybe you didn't do it long enough. The point is, carnivore works!

This is more sustainable than alternate day for me...I tend to eat later in the day...im never hungry in the morning. I don't get hungry until around 12 and I don't go to bed until late so i may have to adjust my window and see what happens. 😊

So nice to meet you here. Your video got my attention. I was introduced to Carnivore a year ago. Every time I was out of the country and vacation I gain weight back. Since January I started carnivore diet again with some walk , bike and light weights. 3 times a week going to the gym 12pm to almost 2pm. I still have to lose 30 Lbs. I’m 160 Lbs now and I’m almost 5’3” tall. I’m going to try your recommended eating window. 8am-2pm. Is it okay if I go to the gym at 2pm? I don’t like to go to early or too late because of it’s get more crowded. Also, I love coffee I heard caffeine is not good so I changed to decaf coffee what do you think? Also, can I add MTC oil to my coffee or Raw heavy cream is better ? Thank you so much 🙏😊

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you so much. I have watched tons of videos and nobody has explained it like you. I couldn't understand why I wasn't losing weight. I was not fasting right. I was eating at night in an 8 hour window. I didn't understand it and you explained it so well. And what to eat and what not to eat. I've been waiting for a video like this. Nobody explains it like you do. Thank you for sharing. God bless you. I'm 239lbs and I need to get to 150 for my age and height. I'll let ya know how it goes. Being 56 and a lot of ailments I've been trying to lose weight for 8 years and have been unsuccessful. 😭 OMG I can't wait to try this. I'm excited.

With severe allergies taping my mouth shut would be suicide. I would love to sleep that much but I can't sleep if I'm hungry and I end up waking up in the middle of the night hungry and can't go back to sleep unless I eat and I have PTSD. A good night sleep on a regular basis would do more for my health than anything else I know of. He is certainly right about that. If we could just entirely eliminate microplastics, insecticides, herbicides and bisphenols then our bodies would be able to handle these other substances much more easily with the exception of things like margarine. The vegetable oils come in a close third and don't even come from vegetables.

You say it is easy to lose weight, and I agree fasting was like magic the first few years, but after I got past the 55-year mark, it has been an increasing struggle to keep the weight down. I only eat one meal a day as a general rule. 24-hour fasts are great, but the difference between that and OMAD is only 30 minutes, so when I skip a day, that is essentially a 48-hour fast, and it works wonders, but if I don’t also do exercise the weight will not go down. The good news is that if there ever is an emergency where we will be without food, then I will outlive everyone as long as I have some water and salt😊Thank you for this video. I have been trying to tell people the benefits of fasting, but there are still some myths around the topic. Some even regard it as an eating disorder.

I think weight gain on the backside of middle age is your body putting away fat for when you get old. Because once you're around 70, you will start losing weight. If you go into your senior years years too thin, you won't have weight to spare and too little weight is deadly for old people. My paternal grandmother was always thin and when she got into her 80's, we were pushing ice cream on her like crack dealers because she couldn't keep her weight up. She got to making milkshakes from ice cream and Ensure. My other grandmother, we have her on medicine to stimulate her appetite because she was losing too much weight (she's petite). So, what may seem a curse today might help you live 25 years from now.

try longer fasts. 3-day or 5-day at least once in a year. Also, it works to just eat more say 3 meals in a day then go into a long fast.

@JudeQuirk
@JudeQuirk 2 ай бұрын
@@janetthornton7909 Yes they are. Actually, maybe we should list them all for the people… Potatoes, sweet potatoes are fine, tomatoes, peppers, and everything made from peppers including cayenne powder, paprika, cajun spices, eggplant, and Goji berries. I believe tobacco is also a nightshade. If anybody sees this, and he has rheumatoid arthritis, or any other chronic diseases, get off the nightshades and see if that helps you. If it doesn’t work, it might be oxalates get off the high oxalate foods. Not that it’s always those things because dairy and grains with gluten Can also cause disease. After that if you still have problems, I think that’s why people go on the carnivore diet because there’s probably other ingredients and other foods that cause issues as well.

I can do the 18/6 fasting but not on that time schedule. Once I wake my stomach up, it wants food for the rest of the day. I would absolutely not be able to stop at 2 pm. Question - do you think in general it is better to exercise before eating or after? I just walk. I have heard that walking after a meal helps reduce insulin production.

Re-started Keto/Ketovore in January with IF. Hit a wall a month ago but broke through it. I'm hitting another wall, and going to add this in, but change the days. I enjoying making a Sunday family dinner, so my 20-hour fasting (which I do a lot) will start Monday afternoon instead.

Keto/ketovore and are you planning on sticking to it for the rest of your life? If you start just eating Whole Foods you’ll loose, keep it off, and it’s more sustainable. Ask any nutritionist or better yet hire one. These diets do work and they become popular because of bodybuilders. My dad was a professional bodybuilder and would do carnivore to get trim in the spring but would tell anyone who asked it’s not meant for everyone and it’s only for competition. It’s not healthy or sustainable long term.

The biggest part I'm struggling with is the eating window of 8am - 2pm. My typical routine is taking my daughter to school, then going for a 3 mile walk. So a 10am - 4pm eating window would work better for me. Maybe my eating wouldn't be at the ideal time, but it sounds like finishing my fasted window with the walk would be ideal. Yes? No?

Totally understand the difficulty in this schedule especially when you have a family. 10am - 4pm is still great, the goal is more time fasted before bed.
