When it comes to sponsorships, there are some really good companies to work with, and some really bad ones. Luckily one of the good ones I found is EcoFlow. They have been great to work with and if anything, understate the quality and performance of their products. The River 2 models that I used in this video have been doing great for everything I’ve used them for, and you can get your own with a 10% discount through the following links!

Unfortunately the battery company was not so honest, and even after I made it very clear what I needed a battery for, they told me theirs was a great fit for the job and even set me up with an affiliate deal so that I could earn a percentage of the sales, in hopes that I would promote it in a video even though it was absolutely the WRONG fit for what I was doing. Then after no response from my questions of what was going on, they pointed out that we had a deal in writing for me to show their battery in a video, so that’s exactly what I did!
Oh, and fun fact, saying @MattsOffRoadRecovery in a video does get you more views 😂
In this video I also built a new mount for my risers and hitch attachment, cleaned up some shoddy concrete work, and then installed some @gripstuds in the new tires I picked up for my wife’s Jeep

I would like to point out that while one company grossly overstated their products capabilities, the EcoFlow unfit actually went well beyond what it was rated for without a problem. The River 2 Pro is rated for up to 1600 watts with the X-Boost turned on, yet it went well over 1800 watts when I started the grinder and powered it into the metal at the same time. That’s something I didn’t notice until I watched the video back, and goes along with times I’ve seen my EcoFlow Delta 2 go beyond what it is actually rated for as well

I have an EcoFlow River Max and it broke. That can happen and I contacted them since it was still under warranty. They sent me a label to return it for repair and I got it back fixed a week later. One of the things that separates companies is their after-sales service and EcoFlow was perfect 10/10 for service & support. Yeah there are cheaper options, but good luck if it breaks. I don't know about you but I can't afford to have expensive equipment turn into paperweights, BTDT, it sucks.

After your glowing review on the LiFePO4 battery, I went to their website. I researched their battery and discovered that $450 dollars is a lot of money for a battery that appears to NOT designed for automotive use. The studs on the battery are not designed to accept any standard automotive battery terminals. There is no way I could replace that battery in my F150 because the studs are not tall enough to allow my cable terminals to connect to it. What that battery appears to be good for are trolling motors for boats, as shown on their website. Furthermore, they mislead you on the temperature rating on the battery, as the battery will shut off charging at 32 degrees and will stop discharging power at -4 degrees. That battery is utterly useless in your winter environment. To be fair, you showed their battery in your video and I took what you said and researched the battery myself and there is no way I would buy that battery to replace an automotive battery. Furthermore, to be honest, if I am going to buy a battery, it won't be from an online company. The 5 year warranty means that I would probably have to pay to ship it back to California, which would not be cheap. I'd rather buy something like this battery locally. Great job on the video, love your content.

The nails in front of the carport would make my blood boil. I work construction and it's not hard to be conscious of where the nails go. I had some siding redone a few years ago and came home to find over 30 white nails in my black paved driveway and made them drive 2 hours back to pick them all up

Just yesterday, at 9:30 in the morning, I'm in line at the gas station/convenience store and the two guys in front of me, in their work uniforms (gutter installers) each have two of those big cans of twisted tea. I just sat in below zero temperature with no electricity, therefore no heat, for about 12 hours. It's amazing how cold a house can get in subzero temperatures in that length of time. I will be buying that generator to plug my little supplemental space heater into ASAP so I don't ever have to go through that again. I'm an old lady (dinosaurs roamed the earth when I was young) and when you told how lightweight the generators were that was the selling point for me because I was afraid they would be so heavy that an old woman like me wouldn't be able to handle them. Casey you get an A on your homework assignment. Must lithium batteries should never be charged below 0℉, it kills them. Some newer designed Lithium Batteries from your know where, have a Battery Management Systems (BMS) with low temperature lock out to prevent charging below 0℉. That specification detail should be on battery label, as you pointed out. EV's have heaters and coolant to keep their batteries operating. The only way this battery would work in the Jeep is: If it was wrapped in a battery blanket with a thermally controlled battery heater wrapped around the battery, and given a permeant power source to protect the battery on those days and nights the Jeep sit's unused. Seal Lead Acid Batteries are still the best option for below zero temperature operations.

I would be pissed off about the nails also. The customer shouldn't have to clean up behind the crew I would definitely reach out to the company about that crew leaving the nails everywhere because what if your child was injured by one of those rusty nails while she was playing. She could of fell on one in the grass. Love the videos. New wrecker looks awesome and the red wrecker is a cool truck just needs a front end conversoin done to the headlights

Also give them a bunch a bunch of shit for leaving a board full of nails on the ground with the nails up right in front of my daughters lawn toys that she always runs up to to play with. They are lucky I didn’t see that part before I filmed the video or I would have blasted them by name as bad as I could of on here

I could make some accurate assumptions about the concrete crew, but for the sake of your channel, I won't. As a General Contractor, I have a real problem with "slob" subcontractors. A definite lack of professionalism and it generally shows in the job quality. The nails scattered around is a safety issue, particularly with kids around. The obvious flat tire eventuation is a no-brainer. I would have mentioned their name, as a homeowner, you want to know who to avoid. Keeping the name to yourself isn't going to help the next family with kids. Concerning the EcoFlow, I love the concept, the whole system, but eventually it'll need repair or replacement. Typical warranty for many systems is 24 months, that's not very long for the electronics, though maybe normal for battery life. I've yet to find any company that repairs their units. If they fail to charge a battery, control system fails, internal parts meltdown you're screwed. I have friends and family with a couple of different systems, they failed after a couple of years, beyond warranty, absolutely no response from either company about a repair service. These units can cost a few thousand dollars (theirs did) when set up for home backup power. With no repair service in place, that's more money than most of us are willing to lose.

it's frustrating that they would lie for some marketing. If they would have just been honest, you could have still used it but for its intended purpose. Good job keeping your word though and showing it in a video. It makes a wonderful stand for mock up.

Casey, I would think that long crank on that International would concern you. I'm not a diesel mechanic, but I did spend many years operating big rigs, and thus diesel engines. A long crank is often a precursor of later issues. But I guess I am probably preaching to the choir! Just more advice you didn't ask for.

Those crews are supposed to go over their entire area with a rolling magnet bar to retrieve their discarded nails [or pick them all up by hand!]. At least that's what USED to be the practice. Roofing crews used to do the same.

I dislike the product videos myself. I get reached to constantly and I usually say no. I was once a jet ski tester for watercraft world magazine and there’s a lot that goes into good product testing. EcoFlow has reached out and they do seem pretty great, but I haven’t pulled the trigger with them because the quick turnaround needed. However, it’s good to hear you like yours… they seem like a good company. I did just agree to do one with a refrigerator company that my friend has already reviewed, but I was going to film something a bit different. They were cool with it, but I told them I needed it before November 6th as I was using it in my Liberty and my parent’s cabin. They said no problem, it’ll be there in 3 days and that was over a week ago. If it gets here today, I’ll still film it, but this first trial has just made me weary of doing it again.
@CaseyLaDelle
@CaseyLaDelle Жыл бұрын
Everything is negotiable. EcoFlow wanted a quick turn around with me too, and I simply told them no. I made it very clear that I will not do a review on a product until I’ve had it for at least a month, and they agreed to that. If you notice that with this particular EcoFlow product, this video came out a couple weeks after the launch day where everyone else’s video came out on it. That’s because I didn’t feel I had it long enough to thoroughly test yet, so I didn’t participate in their launch day, and they were just fine with that. I’ve had many other companies who aren’t ok with that and said videos had to be put out immediately, and I simply tell them I’m not interested

For the nails use a magnet on a pole, just scan the area like with a metal detector. Put them in a jar. You can reused them.

Noting that most (low cost) LiFePO4 batteries are more suited to low C-rate discharge, deep cycle applications (camping "house" battery) more so than starter applications - for winching use, 4 12V 100A rated (2C) 50AH (or 3 100A rated 75AH with the same specs) batteries in parallel could be regarded as "optimal" - if using in unprotected cold climates, stick it in an insulated battery box, the self heating function (or throw a block heater or low powered light bulb, in the insulated box, set to 2-5 degrees C) will be nearly negligible additional power draw - provided the battery is maintained "semiregularly" - or has a solar DC-DC charger in the setup. -NB, even though winches makers may boast 7.5kW (or something) motors, in nearly any tested use-case the winch rarely draws over 300A (only half rated power) To really get a true 1000CCA - Lithium Batteries (in the NMC or LiFe types) are not really suited to most people's budgets , NMC because they may catastrophically deconstruct and LiFE because they may simply let the smoke out of the cells or the BMS... There are very advanced batteries out there with awesome management architecture (MIL spec) but at $1000-1800 per 100AH, not in everyone's balllpark - NBB Lead acid batteries also have a non trivial lower operating temperature - they too can freeze... (better to keep any chemical concoction in its preferred temperature range - even Diesel fuel and Oil (critical for the backup generator).
