With the 2000's being such a huge trend, the dreaded low waisted pants are back! The good news, is with DIY we can customize the height so that it still feels comfortable and flattering on our bodies.
While I do use a sewing machine for this DIY you could easily use a needle and thread.
This is a great hack to adjust the location of a specific element like a Waistband, a sleeve cuff or even the hem of jeans.

It almost seems like an over correction in response to how low the rises were getting in early 2ks. I love a good hip hugger but some 'celebs' were pushing it and then the "I'm not like other girls" girls retaliated with mom jeans, lol!

Yes!!!!!! I'm a short torso girlie and all these nonsense mid rise high rise never fit right!!! It's also so frustrating that brands are advertising "low rise" jeans that are still 8.5-9" high 🙄🙄 that's not low rise!!!!

I LOVE lowrise! Have been stubbornly avoiding high waisted pants! Low rise doesn't mean but crack automatically, you just have to find the right fit. I can't wear high waisted pants or anything binding on my midsection because of my hiatal hernia, so I've been suffering since 'mom' jeans came back!

Haha, I know. Why is no one talking about the golden middle? Like, there's a life between waist high (which makes me look like a clown) and bum-crack showing low rise. I like bellybutton high, personally. It contains the first signs of my pre-menopausal (that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it) belly, but still flatters my proportions.

I am a 74 year old women , and low rise jeans, pants fit me so well. I just hate there is really no choice out there. Mid rise or high it does not work for me. So glad for this tip , I sew but always dread the way I use to alter the high rise pants. Going to do this to some pants I bought and had been putting off the job.

This is so timely for me! I just received a very comfy pair of jeans, but the websites inseam info was way off! I was deciding whether to get them tailored, but as they were super cheap, I was thinking of whether it was worth it or should I just return them. Problem solved! Only thing is, I haven’t sewn in quite a while, so I am a little intimidated, especially with a relatively thick fabric. But, hey, they were cheap, not as thick as a lot of jean material, and I do have safety glasses in case of the needle snapping off!!

Do you have any advice on how to keep a straight line if using a handheld sewing machine? Also, you were able to fold your pants all the way around because you have a very slim figure, but if someone has a large derriere, they'd be folding more in the front and barely any in the back. So then would you sew it like that, leaving no slack in the back and just cut the excess in the front only? Would that look strange? Or does it need to be a straight line all the way around the pant?

Remember to adjust the back of the pants because you need the pants to go over your butt (if you have one) correctly

I lowered the rise on some jeans recently. It was so interesting. This technique wouldn’t have worked but it is sort of the way I did my jeans. I sewed the waistband where I wanted it and then trimmed out the excess. So I could move it if it wasn’t right.
