$30 LSD.... what a steal! Transmission looks great too!

10:10, can you elaborate on the mistake you made? Replacing my speedo gear tomorrow and want it to go smooth as possible.

Clutch
@averyalexander2303 Жыл бұрын
@@geoffreym2769 Or user error. These don't have a synchronized reverse, so if you are moving at all or you shift to reverse right after clutching in, it will grind. You either have to wait a few seconds after clutching in for the input shaft to stop spinning or shift to one of the forward gears first to stop it, otherwise it will grind. If reverse still grinds after waiting about 5 seconds with the clutch in before shifting and you aren't rolling, the clutch is dragging and needs to be fixed right away.

@@averyalexander2303 clutch dragging, yes I agree that there isn't a syncro on reverse, but I can engage reverse very quickly without and grinds as long as I have stopped the car
@averyalexander2303 Жыл бұрын
@@geoffreymoulton5707 It may be possible, but according to common sense and the owners manual, you really shouldn't if you want your trans to last. There's a lot of other factors that determine whether any specific trans will grind when incorrectly shifted into reverse. The idle speed, transmission's internal wear, temperature, and oil are a few factors. My D17 powered 05 Civic grinds if shifted into reverse immediately despite having no clutch drag. I'm not sure if my 04 Civic with a K20A2 trans would or not and I have no intention of trying it, I imagine it probably would.

So you used a 6-speed gearset from a different trans into the stock ep3 5-speed case? Which model can you pull the gears from other than a rsx type-s?

Will this lsd work with the accord transmission too?
@KSSRacing3 жыл бұрын
Yes pretty sure! You’ll have to check if it’s 4.7 final drive first, if not then swap the ring gear from your old differential - Aiden

So question, you can just take the old 4.33 out and put the 4.7 in the 5 speed trans? Or do you have to have a 6th gear?
@KSSRacing2 жыл бұрын
6th gear is just something optional we added. What are you trying to accomplish? Are you adding an lsd in a 5 speed trans? If so you reuse the ring gear from the trans you’re putting it into. Otherwise if you’re switching final drive ratios you’d need to change the shaft the ring gear runs off also to match

so the transmission is k20a3 5 speed

Hi bro. How come you never shimmed the diff? Or checked if it needs shimming Thanks

We’ve never checked diff shimming & we’ve had good luck, but if you want to be proper you should check it

@@KSSRacing thanks lads. Just to clarify, to check diff shimming, you check the clearance between the top of the diff, and the drive shaft holes when the casing is closed right ?
