I think in the lucid dreaming community we really need to dismantle the wake back to bed “ technique”. Wake back to bed is the perfect aid for a wake initiated lucid dream or a maintained awareness lucid dream but there’s one small caveat. It interferes with the bodies, most crucial form of rehabilitation, development, and brain processing. As lucid dreamers we definitely do get this ‘lucid at all cost mentality’. I think it’s vital that we let the younger Lucid dreamers -ages 12 to 18 and those still developing- know that they shouldn’t really be messing around too much with their sleep schedule. If you have the time in the morning, I would really recommend sleeping 6 to 8 hours and doing a morning nap. Morning naps may feel like they don’t work as well as wake back to beds. (That was my original opinion because I really liked wake back to bed) but trust me, morning naps work. Nothing is more important than your own health and mental well-being. Don’t put anything before that. Also keep in mind the world‘s most infamous and most effective torture method is sleep interruption, so don’t torture yourself, have fun, and stay lucid!
@LonelyLavenderr3 ай бұрын
@@Robogobo3125 well WBTB itself isn’t bad at all, it just depends on how you do it. If you’re doing WBTB every night with external factors like alarms ,which interfere with your sleep cycles, then yea it’s not the healthiest thing. But it’s also important to remember that we have natural awakenings through the night when we sleep already, we just don’t notice them. If you use these non-external factors to WBTB it’s completely healthy. Taking advantage of natural awakening by learning how to recognize or even just using your brains internal clock to see the intention to wake up at a certain time is not unhealthy.

My sleep routine is anchored by either the sound of a blizzard at night or rain on a tent, played for 10 hours. I use these auditory stimuli through earbuds to create a sense of comfort and focus for relaxation. Since incorporating this method, I’ve experienced increasingly vivid dreams, which often feel startlingly realistic. On occasion, I gain full lucidity within the dream, allowing me to exert control. However, maintaining this state without waking up becomes a delicate balance. I find great fascination in exploring the dream world through lucid dreaming, though I avoid dream scenarios involving conflict or war. In my experience, the sensation of dying within a dream, before waking, is unpleasant and even painful.

At some point, I started making my own locations that had bits and pieces of REAL LIFE locations that I had been to or seen in a film. Everything sorta works like Legos. The best part is that I keep all five senses in my dreams so I can feel my ideal weather at all times. I recently made this city that's constantly dark and rainy, yellow lights on every street corner. I've had mystery/crime themed dreams there every time, and it's awesome. There are multiple worlds within my universe, all being very special to me and some that I pray I will never visit again. Especially the one that trapped me in music video that kept looping every time I became self-aware, keeping me from waking myself up. Hate that one, and it genuinely terrifies me to this day.

Tip for WBTB: before sleeping, try to tell yourself multiple times that you will NEED to wake up at 4 AM for example (normally 4-6 hours after you sleep). The human brain has a natural clock that is often used for cases like that. Lots of people normally wake up "just in time" if the day before they knew they needed to wake up early to something like going out to a trip for example. If you're unsure this will work, try doing it before going to sleep as i said. I'm pretty sure you will actually wake up.

If you go to sleep way past your bedtime (5-6) and sleep in a certain way (one foot out while the other lays on top of it forming a 4 either side works) always seems to get me to remember dreams better have weirder dreams sometimes i can consciously put myself in sleep paralysis which is another portal into the lucid realm

Only ever time I lucid dreamed I was about 6 or 7 years old so it was kinda scary. I woke up from a dream from my weird child brain and fell asleep again and went right back into that dream, I was just like hold on I remember this, the scary part is me shaking my head trying to wake up while my dad was for some reason forcefully asking if I wanted hotdogs for dinner, it didn’t work and I didn’t wake up until a bit later after the dream character was chasing me. 😭

About 2 months ago I got one of the most insane lucid dreams I've ever had, I was very tired one day and decided to take a small nap B4 lunch, and when I fell asleep I knew I was in a lucid dream almost instantly, the problem is no matter what I tried, nothing I did made me wake up in real life, I was waking up over and over in the dream but never could I do it in real life, I started panicking and I tried to connect my mind back to my sleeping body since I knew I was near the edge of the bed and I could throw me off the edge to wake up, when I finally did wake up I was drenched in sweat and I looked at the time and saw it only had passed 15 mins, it was one of the most wild experiences I've ever had

When ever I accidentally lucid dream, my dream gaslight me into thinking it’s just a regular dream Example: me & some people are surrounded by some wolves. Me: “wait, this is a dream, we can just fly away!” and we all start flying, but then the other people are like “well the flying part is a dream, but the wolves are real and you need to go back down and deal with them” and I go “fine..” and then I can’t remember cuz it went back to being a regular dream

Only time I've ever lucid dreamt seems to match this process. Had fallen asleep during the ride home and woke up when we got there. Took a shower and went to bed. My leg started annoying me a bit so I kept focusing on it while meditating myself to sleep. I was transported to a dream. Surreal. Few times I've tried doing it consciously my cat would move around my room giving sleep paralysis demon vibes and freaking me out though lol

Whenever i sleep in school, i feel part of my brain stays awake. Part of me is conscious of my surrounding, but another is simply observing it with hearing. I will still hear the school ambience and occasionally pick up dialog throughout but when i realize it i suddenly gain a lot more consciousness than before. I can notice the difference because there is always some sort of noise/thought process going on (internal yapping, music loop, etc) but when I enter this stage, before i realize it, the voices are silent. I have invented deep-daydreaming

Yes. I am feeling pain rn, does that mean this was all a dream? What is reality... really, what if dreams are the real world, where our other identity lives, and when they sleep, they see our world as a dream, what is real anymore...

I think I experienced something like this before?? I think a LOT when I sleep. But sometimes, felt like random, I would enter a state of knowing I’m dreaming, but also consciously aware of my paralyzed body in the real world. My dreams feel more like vivid and uncontrollable television. I can feel my eyelids, but I can’t open them. Not without extreme effort. But once my eyelids finally open, I regain consciousness & motor control. Absolutely horrified me the first time! Very claustrophobic!

i did this a few weeks ago, i thought i had to fully focus on my anchor, but on the third day i kinda meh'ed it, just like you explain here i didnt pay too much attention on it, i just kept a slight focus on my anchor, and not coincidentially i had a lucid dream that night cuz i was actually able to fall asleep. for me it was either not sleeping because im too focused, or straight up not focusing and sleeping, but that day i kinda focused and i had a lucid dream with really no prior experience, so i can say this does work and makes a lot more sense when you think about it (also i love the mexico ps1 background videos)

I have something interesting to share. So I was in and out of sleep, or so I thought. I landed in a very familiar setting, a restaurant that me and my brother used to go to a couple years back. In the dream I was with my brother and another guy that I could not identify. I knew that I was dreaming because, as I said, I was aware that I was in and out of sleep--could have been a dream as well. As I blurted the word, "I'm definitely dreaming right", my brothers' body started to convulse, screaming something that I couldn't understand at me. It was harrowing. Terrified, I quickly forced my eyelids to open. It was safe to say that I was scared, I am definitely not someone that is easily scared, but I was.
@johnsonfromml86622 ай бұрын
Yeah whenever i realised im dreaming, the whole dream either becomes abnormal nightmare or made me wake up. and it's not a normal nightmare, it's like sleep paralysis for whatever reason you just have the urge to be scared and needing to wake up immediately even if you logically think it's fine situation. So i had to keep trying to not realise it's a dream while also keep remembering it is one whenever i want to have a lucid like dream. when i want things to happen in lucid dream i don't imagine IT to happen, that made me think and made me realise it's a dream. i had to find something in that dream that i want like going somewhere into a room where i think what i want is there
@SanzzNinetyNine2 ай бұрын
Something like that happened to me once. I was in class and I was sitting next to my friend. I asked him, "This is a dream isn't it?" His face started distorting and suddenly I "woke up" back in my room. I thought I already woke up but then indiscernible writing started appearing on the walls and the gravity felt lighter. It was horrifying. Then my mom actually did wake me up so I could drink my medicine cuz I had a fever. So yep, weirdest fever dream I've ever had.
