Edge with a blade, flat or the Golden Edger, then clean the stray grass with a vertically orientated string trimmer. Also, clean all expansion cracks with the string trimmer as you go. If you have green growing from expansion cracks you might as well not even edge or trim. Its all for nothing.

Nice edging, but just make sure to use only the tip of the string when trimming/edging (it's more effective), and it makes it easier, but you don't have to do it: taking the guard off for higher visbility of the string and so it can be longer.

Here is the Key to strait line edge , use a lighter or smaller size line helps , size 95 is best, 105 is do able but harder to keep it strait. 118 is well forget about it . Just thought I would bring this up as you didn't say what size line you were using , plus not all 95 size line is equal . Nice video with good info .

Golden edge and Edgit Pro it's the key
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess Жыл бұрын
The golden edge is trash in my opinion. I used it once and never again. It hangs in my shop on the wall of shame. Way too much liability with the amount of debris it throws. I did a video using it and never used it again. As far as the edge it pro goes I never understood the appeal of attaching essentially a frisbee to your trimmer. Most guys don’t even like keeping the guards on their trimmers let alone putting something that large on it blocking your view for trimming. If your going to put a edge it pro on a trimmer as well as a golden edge you might as well just use a dedicated blade stick edger. Follow the steps in this video and with a little practice you’ll be edging like a pro without any of that unnecessary stuff. Thanks for watching.

Although I know everyone does it, myself included, worksafebc considers using string trimmers for edging as a dangerous industry practice - this is also what is taught in the the red seal horticulture program. I know not everyone either has or may be able to afford an edger, but I’m just putting my 2 cents in...
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess 4 жыл бұрын
I’ve never heard that. Good thing I don’t have employees. 😂 There are also times that you need edge and using string is much safer. Like for example in the drought of summer when there is lots of dry grass. String does not throw sparks like a blade can, which would be a potential fire hazard. I use the blade on each lawn to start the season and touch up as needed, but I prefer the string for efficiency and the look. Even when I use the blade, I will still go over it with string, because the blades are so thin the string defines the edge better. Thanks for watching.

@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess I think he's asking what he's doing wrong while edging to cause the mentioned issues. I found that it was from the string breaking off while edging meant I was edging the concrete instead of the grass/lawn, meaning make sure you keep the string on the lawn side, otherwise that string will break instantly. The spool question may just mean he has it strung wrong or not tight enough. HTH

Sounds like a way to set yourself apart from the competition. It really makes a lawn stand out. Using the string trimmer definitely takes practice and is only good for maintaining an edge. I definitely recommend using a blade edger for cutting a new edge. Also if you have a high employee turn over rate then training on using a blade is easier and faster. Don’t need as much concentration as well. Thanks for watching.

Looks good buddy but don't you clean the grass coming out of sidewalks so everything looks nice and clean I just cut the grass coming out of the sidewalk with the trimmer or I spray it good job man brother try to get your hands on the 2320T or you can also have a regular srm225 and swap a 2.1 gear that really wakes up the srm225 and gives it alot of torque but your better of buying the 2320T cuz the 2.1 gear cost anywhere from $80 to $95 unless you have a 2.1 gear laying around or you can take it off from any of your T model echos and swap it on a regular srm225 I love it cuz it's super light weight and those srm225 really hold up hard commercial work specially here in Miami that are used hard all year long none stop try it you will love it and if you do weekly yards even better a little warning the new srm2320T the throttle trigger is hard and it will cramp your hands after 30 minutes to an 1 hour of continuous use I complained to echo about this issue cuz none of my 2620 or srm225 the throttle trigger are so hard I also sprayed the cable with WD40 and didn't help they also have new carbs so I think the problem is coming from there cuz I also tried switching the complete throttle housing from my 225 to the 2320T and nothing same thing it's the butterfly on the carb that it's hard so of course that makes it harder on the throttle cable to pull I hope echo fixes this cause I had to return mine back to homedepot cuz of this issue.

Hey curious how's that black diamond line working for you? I read in a lotta reviews that it breaks easy. What's your professional opinion does it hold up good is it worth the money? I bought a Echo weed eater I think I got the 225 with the standard Echo trimmer line and it's excellent I've been using cheap line for over a year and I almost got the Black Diamond but I got the standard orange line that comes with it but it 0.85 works great but I'm curious how that black diamond is I'm thinking about getting it next time. Thanks
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess 4 жыл бұрын
It depends on if it’s old or new stock. The original black diamond did break and wear out fast. That’s when most of the reviews came out including my original where I complained about the same thing. One year later echo put out a new version that lasted much longer. Still does not last as long as gator line but it is has a lot of other benefits I discovered from switching back and forth that I really like the new black diamond. The problem is that echo never marked the new stuff as new or improved so the packaging looks the same as the original. Most of it should be gone by now but there is always the chance that some store or dealer still has old stock they are selling. Here is a video review of the new version I did. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ml6umqpqft6YiMk And here is the original review I did when black diamond first came out and was brittle. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5ukpHeEh7ytbs0 Thanks for watching.

@LawnCareBusinessSuccess
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Every trimmer I’ve ever used has been able to be turned over. Maybe your fuel line and filter are attached at the bottom of the tank. That would cause it to essentially run out of gas if you flipped it upside down. Usually they are just loose in the tank so you can fish it out if you need to change the filter and thus always just go to where the fuel is because of gravity. Thanks for watching.

This year I’ve been using mostly the Milwaukee M18 Battery trimmer and it edges lawns just fine on weekly maintenance accounts. After using it now everyday except during rain I actually now prefer using the battery trimmer over gas. Does everything my gas trimmers do but it’s just much nicer to use. Pull the trigger and go. No stinky nasty 2 stroke exhaust to smell, no loud whinny exhaust and I can get through and entire day trimming on 2-3 9.0 batteries.

You comment comes off as jealously. It’s ok there’s hope for you yet. With a little practice you can get your edges to look as good as mine. I have 2 gas stick edges, 2 battery powered stick edgers and a walk behind edger. I use them to cut new edges, but to do weekly maintenance the string is so much more efficient. If I’m being honest when you got the skills you can make the string edge look better than the blade. In fact even when I use a blade edger to cut a new edge, I still go over them with the string. Looks much better.

I cut them all at 2.5”. Most clients would prefer I cut them shorter if they had their way. Thanks for watching
