@reallyjordanhorn8 ай бұрын
I mean, yes, you do need a camera and some gear in order to get this done. As with anything else, it takes a bit of investment in order to be able to make some money. Realtors want to work with only one provider, they don’t want to call a bunch of different people, so the more services you can provide, the better

Great Video! can you please help me. I'm currently using a FX3 with a Laowa lens 15m 2.8 for real estate photos but I want to take better photos. What do you think of my current gear? should I go with an A7IV with a new lens such as sigma 14 - 24 2.8 or Sony 16-35mm f/4 Zeiss?
@reallyjordanhorn2 ай бұрын
Thanks! The fx3 should be totally fine for photos. I think the sigma 14-24mm f2.8 will be best bang for buck. Great lens. I essentially had the same combo a while ago: a7s3 and the 14-24mm f2.8.

@@reallyjordanhorn Honestly i wanted a second camera not just for the resolution but when im on site and doing video and photos at the same time having to go back and forth putting putting the camera on a tripod then a gimbal and changing lenses ect is a huge time waster.. so you think their wouldn't be any notable difference in quality between the 2 cameras? but the new lens would be a big difference ?

The only clients that know you're new are the ones you tell. I don't see new house painters painting houses for free, new plumbers installing toilets for free, new doctors giving heart transplants for free or new house cleaners cleaning for free. If you're thinking doing it for free cause you might screw up well don't offer your services until you're confident you can deliver. I'm not saying free doesn't work. Maybe offer the $800 pkg at a discount for 1st time clients only? At least you get paid and the cst will see you as a professional instead of a beginner.

@@rasecroel2366 How can you verify that "most" real estate photographers use this method? That would require that you interview photographers across the country to come to that conclusion. I would agree that some use this method. Free shoots is a method that works and I don't disagree that photographers are getting results. My point is how are other service based businesses able to get clients without giving away their services? How are other service based business able to figure out how to grow their businesses without free services and real estate photographers can't figure out how to do it?

Thats because real estate photography clients are returning clients, it is not a one time a year/ a decade service like in most of the examples you provided (plumbers, painters, surgeons etc). I have two of the biggest real estate agents in west Texas. One of which is in the top 10 agents in Texas as a whole and there’s no way you’re making $1000 on most of your shoots nor are the customers getting the entire array of your services for basic house listings. I’ve been doing this too long to believe you. The only agents that you could talk into that would be newbies with zero mentors. And they wouldn’t be return customers. I feel that if you offer something for free, you're already lowering your value. It can't be that great if it's for free... What was that saying? "You get what you pay for."
@reallyjordanhorn8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I respect your sentiment, but I must vehemently disagree. If you are trying to gain clients that already have a provider, then they have no incentive to even give you a shot. If you're confident in your skills and ability to provide a superior service, then it is within your wheelhouse to take a risk in order to prove your value. I do agree that in some respects, just saying "I'll give you a free shoot" may convey a low value, but that's why it's so important to focus on the way that you reach out to these potential clients and offer this value at no risk to them. The method is simple - if they like the work and want it again, then the expectation is that they become your paid client. If you, however, do not back your confidence up with skill and fantastic customer service, then you don't deserve the new client. Furthermore, if your potential client is wary of the idea, citing the same concern you have "you get what you pay for", then it's entirely up to the offerer of the free value to prove their materials are worth paying for. Edit: The alternative is sitting idly by and not reaching out to get new clients, and just relying on people finding you. That's all well and good if you want to take years to grow a real estate photography business, but if you want it fast, then you have to get creative. What was that saying? "No risk, no reward." Have a good day :-)
