How to Make 3-D Contoured Cookie Baskets (Part of a Dessert Network Collaboration)

In this video (part of a special Dessert Network Easter collaboration, link below), I show all the assembly steps required to put together my popular 3-D contoured cookie baskets, perfect for Easter, Mother's Day, May Day, or a special cookie gift at any time of year. You'll learn how to piece together the curved sides, wrap the sides with frosting sheets, assemble the cookie flowers and leaves for filler pieces, and then put it all together with sanding sugar and a fondant handle.

If youwrapped your can with parchment then with cookie dough you would have one piece and no seam and the can would slip out after baking etc. Beautiful work thankyou for sharing.

I just started watching your videos and they are wonderful. You could use a bread knife to cut the cookies. You use a sawing motion with the bread knife and it will gradually cut through with equal force. Pairing knives, even sharp ones will break the cookie because the flat edge is pushing down with equal force instead of a slow saw. You can also freeze the cookie to firm it up and make it easier to cut. Also sand paper works to even out edges on firmer cookies. I hope this helps like you helped me.

Wow I just love all of your video's! They are done so very well and great step by step instructions. The sound is good even though my speakers are about gone on my computer I can still hear you "big plus for me " I can not seem to figure out how to get all of your video's in one place though so I can watch one after the other. They keep slipping in different people and I only want to watch you. Any suggestions on how I can just get all you so I do not have to hunt the video's down each time one is over? Wow! Amazing! You seem to make everything so easy. I'm pretty sure this will be a big project for me. Hopefully, I can get the frosting paper easily. Can I make marshmallow the size of the inside of the basket to set the flowers in? Can I also use stainless wire wrapped with fondant and anchor the ends into the inside of the basket so kids can actually carry them like real baskets? You are simply awesome!

I agree! I would keep everything on it edible especially if kids would get their hands on this. Do you make candies, too? I was thinking of a 3-color candy instead, twisted together like a candy cane that will be shaped as the basket handle. It can also be used as the flower stem. I hope I can make one soon. I'll surely post it if it would be at least as nice as what you have created.

Thanks! I just use thick royal icing to stick (or "glue") the pieces together. So it is completely edible.
