It would be great if you can make a video on the progress of the cuttings all the way until the plantlets developed well enough to be transplanted in their own pots.

Can you use the flower stalks like others do with fly traps
@TheFlytrapGarden2 жыл бұрын
No, the flower stalks are pretty much only used for VFT

The foil would actually make the pot warmer w the sun, just so you know. It’s meant to trap heat, not release it.

Does it also work with venus fly trap leaf cuttings, like just put them in the water?

for the water propagation technique mine never grows roots only leaves so i have to transfer them soon or else the original leaf gets soggy and the cutting fails

Yes true, you need to transfer when they’ve developed a couple leafs

What's the best brand soil to buy for carnivorous plants on Amazon? I have some capensis in propagation and looking to find the best soil for them when ready.

You can just buy a big bale of peat and some perlite separately. It’s a lot cheaper
@Xenocist2 жыл бұрын
Hey man. I don't normally comment much on videos, however, you seem knowledgeable and I'd like some help if you wouldn't mind. I have recently got a few different carnivorous plants and drosera is one of them, I have the kind that has a long stem with no hairs and then a circular top with the hairs. So far new to this and I'm wondering about the plants themselves, I live with pets and there's hair floating around, do you think the hairs that do end up on the plants as my cats love jumping about, will they stress the plant out tricking it to expend energy to try and catch a hair that won't bring it nutrients.
@TheFlytrapGarden2 жыл бұрын
The hair from pets is fine, it just doesn’t look good and the chance for catching insects is less as there’s hairs taking up space

I live in tropical area. I find leaf cutting to be a bit slow, I'd rather leave them be and seperate the small ones that sprouted from the old leaves.

@@TheFlytrapGarden So quick? Another question: I just saw that you cut the leaf not at its origin but somewhere close to it. Wouldnt it be better or more efficient to cut it with its white end (part of the rhyzom)? And after those 1-3 months it did develop roots or when would be the best time to pot it?
@TheFlytrapGarden3 жыл бұрын
The closer to the stem the better, yes. And they will generally make 2-4 leaves. At that time, you put it into very wet soil and they will then root
