The molecules don't separate because of their size. He said big molecules, little molecules. They separate because of the various effects the solvent system and the solid phase has on the mobile phase, where the mobile phase is the mixture you are trying to separate. The solid phase is the sand. You want to choose a solvent system that will allow a greater distance between the THC and CBD phase as it runs through the column. It has to do with polarity and a few other factors. What he is doing is called flash chromatography, which is column chromatography with the use of air pressure to force the mobile phase through the solid phase. Also, depending on the solvent system, it is possible for the order of the molecules to change--he said CBD will come off first, but that wouldn't be guaranteed as it depends on the solvent system. I am not familiar with weed chemistry, so I cannot contribute any solvent systems that would be helpful, but I am sure those are readily described.

What is the mixture you use for eluent? Are you doing gradients 50/50 or single solvent? Also have you thought about dry column vacuum chromatography?

Have you tried with a single cup coffee maker? Take it apart, reroute the water lines and add your chromatography tube along side of the machine with an additonal water line routed from the bottom of the tube into the drip spout. Utilize the water pump as a pressure pump. Pressure may be an issue, or pump timing. Find the pressure or low water switch and cut it away from the pump and add a switch to it so it doesnt stop automatically to hopefully keep the oressure for the tube. Love the idea of building a consumer Oil maker!!! Dont even think it would be that difficult. Just a thought 🤷‍♂️😊 awesome videos. Love the ingenuity!

i generally use solvent dispersion in a piece of pre washed hemp paper, that's called paper chromatography, and it's based in the different speed of propagation of different compounds trough convection in a solid, you will drop the solution and check the side that countains thc, i don't remember wich side it's, one side will have thc and the other cbd, cut the cbd side, wash the cbd paper with isopropyl alcohol and repeat the process as much as you like, you can buy a fluorsilicon pot in the cooking items in any supermarket, fluorsilicon is shatter proof, to collect the hash in one ball you might want to freeze that.

Could you use an espresso machine? Very small scale fill the basket with the sand or make a column shaped basket. Then put the product on top of the sand and switch on they create 15-21bar of pressure so don't see why it wouldn't work 🤷🏻‍♂️ worth a try.

you do know there was a type of this crystal called "star gazer" in the 60's . few know how it was made but I do , I made some of it a year ago and its nothing like what your doing with the coffee machine, I still have about 1/8 of a teaspoon of it about enough to get 50 people to the moon .... but it makes the same product in hard rock crystal some of it will be as clear as glass . and one grain the size of a grain of sugar will be a max dose ...its made with just water and skill ... if you want to know how its made let me know ...I would like to have it tested some day to see how pure it is ... I can make it with out heat or solvents ...old school breeder skills ...let me know if you can test this and see how pure it is ... I only use the 1969 AB1399 cannabis strain to make it .. 70 % Vietnamese's wide leaf Sativa with a native Thai back ground ,male dominate OLR hybrid ....one grain the size of a grain of sugar under the tongue will make you trip your ass off ...lol hard core pure THC crystal the low cost way ... takes time and know how and skill ...your going about it all wrong dude .. think hippie wisdom ... much easier !.......... is this THC or CBD..? I just know this is how they made " Star Gazer "

What if you place sand in the filter of the coffee machine, place gas tube and seal the coffee machine so the pressure can be kept within as much as possible. If the coffee can be assigned for CBD making than you can drill hole for the gas tube to minimize the gas escaping and create the pressure needed. Just was thinking, I am applied chemistry student and I am very interested in the topic of CBD extractions.

you need a whole chain of coffee machines. one is not enough. connect them in series for volume or connect them in parallel for speed. simple that way you can scale up to the preferred VOLUME. again: one machine would be simply underpowered I would suggest to start with 6 machines that´s a good balance between price and output. that way you can keep the cost low and still have a decent production. edit: you can start with CHEAP ones. don´t need to go crazy with top brands from Italy. unless you are rich and care about style vs cost. LOL

That's exactly what I thought! I was looking for this comment. I imagine it would work. What I would do, theoretically, is disable to heating unit (and any alarms the system might have for it like an auto off), putting pure sand in the area for the "puck" of finely ground coffee, then have the machine push it through. Just use a small enough amount to test it and pray it works

yo. conventional coffee machine is not going to work, but you could use a cold drip, potentially... otherwise, use an espresso machine, pack with sand, and then the extract... the steam pressure may be enough, have to watch the temp to prevent burning everything away. and maybe experiment with ice to affect the physics of the procedure.

My thoughts would be if you vaporize the materials at a certain temp, then they liquefy at a lower temp. Now if you you do this temp on the solution at start, then it would liquefy unwanted matter. I believe your hypothesis on the pressure is necessary. My question is you used water as your solvent and slowly added pressure, this eventually would generate heat, as you warm to a certain temp all of the carbon and non crystalline objects would be forced to the bottom. If you are having problems understanding where I am going at this point, research the cubic zarconia creation methods. You have to understand you are working with a crystalline.

hi endoca, big fan, loyal customer. still a bit confused how to use my crystals. just ran out of 50mg raw cbd caps and raw oil 150mg so will experiment as i purchased crystals in bulk but never figured out a comparable dose- any advice? my current pain mgmt for crippling rheumatoid arthritis is 10mg raw cbd cap in am, 150mg raw oil-4-6 drops- midday, 50mg raw cbd cap at night and hemp cream hands and elbows... endoca helped me reduce my rx.oxycodone 75% in about 4 weeks... thank you for that. =^..^=

Hi there Kimi! Thank you for your kind words. If you're interested in experimenting, it really depends on how strong of an oil you want. If you want something close to our formula - it's quite simple: 500mg in 10ml of oil will yield a 5% oil, 1500mg in oil will yield 15% and so forth. Otherwise, if you like that sort of thing, you can vape the crystals. Here, the dosing is a bit more subjective and it is more up to you how much you add to your vape at one time. What liquid was in the round bottom flask... if trying to make crystals you could use a ratio of sugar maybe 3:1.... 3 parts marijuana and 1 part sugar water then dehydrate with coffee machine... maybe the THC would crystallize out with sugar..

You have quite an elaborate way of saying almost absolutely nothing. This is just barely scratching the surface of any kind of explanation of what you are actually doing. I realize this was five years ago, but you could totally can this video and update it. You might add that these crystals are actually quite a week part of the spectrum as far as cannabis goes. You have processed it so far down that it has very little value. Since you've got the whole process right there in front of you, it would be awesome if you would show a final product to, in detail. We would like to see what you have spend so much time talking about

Endoca CBD thanks for the reply, I forgot to specify in my query whether this method results in crystals which contain only the Cannabidiol phytocannabinoid, as i understand there are many cannabinoids in flower?
