I remember YEARS ago, when I was working on a LEGO model in Blender, I searched frantically trying to figure out how to best animate a 2D face. Spoilers, I really didn't find much. XP (There was stuff about animating textures though it wasn't super convenient for workflow.) Now I'm planing on making a new LEGO rig in Blender again and I stumble upon this tutorial. The timing couldn't be better and it's exactly what I will need! You are a blessing.

MasterOshawott you’re welcome! Same thing happened to me. I as well was searching forever to find something. After awhile I found someone who figured out a method similar to what I show you what to do in this tutorial. Basically I remade it, and figured out better ways of doing things. Then I figured I would make a tutorial on how to make it so that I can help others. I’m glad that I could help, and I wish you good luck on your project!

Citrine's Animations Of course! :D I did attempt using a method like this about a year ago, though I couldn't figure out what modifier to have the face "warp to the LEGO head" if you follow. So again, super greatful you created this! Been meaning to get back into Blender, though I'm mostly wanting to use it for Rotoscoping 2D animations I draw in TV Paint. So I probably won't have to worry too much about animating faces, however it's still useful to know in case I ever do want to do something along those lines. :) Now, I just need to stop getting distracted with Minecraft and make that Blender Donut that I've been meaning to do for the last month....

Having a small issue. When I went to the vertex groups, only the first row of bones I did were in it. Did I happen to do something wrong, or is there a way to add the other bones in?

Hey! Ya this is an old video so I see why you called me kiddo haha. But yeah, that would work well, but for full length animated films / episodes this would work better and be more efficient
