Master Lip Sync in Blender Grease Pencil - 2D Animation Lip Sync Tutorial
In part 1 of this Blender Grease Pencil tutorial video series, I'll show you how to create a 2D animation lip sync by setting up the Time Offset Modifier in Blender Grease Pencil so you can lip sync your animations through mouth substitutions (also called mouth swaps). This process can also be applied to various body parts, such as eyes, eyebrows, hands, and feet. Toon Boom Harmony offers a great workflow for this type of process, so I wanted to try to accomplish something similar in Blender Grease Pencil.
In the second video, I'll show you how to create drivers so you can animate the mouth by selecting drawings from a mouth chart onscreen. Check it out here: • Video

Glad it was helpful! I'm working on a new lip sync/drawing substitutions video that uses layers and might be a better approach than this one. Hopefully, I'll have it out in the next few weeks. Thanks for watching!

Interesting. It is kind of similar how you can do it in Davinci Resolve. Precisely done, well done.

I meant that it is kind of similar. You can also add various mouths shapes wit ha timestretcher node and the key it to fit the audio. I also tried automation solutions like rhubarb or allosaurus but these suck if the language is german. For english it worked nicely.@@davidpikedesigns

Great! I'll look into it. I also tried Rhubarb, but I wasn't a fan. I made another video about a different way to do lip sync in Blender, which I really prefer over using the Time Offset Modifier. In this option, you turn on and off the Opacity setting for mouth layers, which automatically creates keyframes. I think it is much easier to set up and less technical. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4bIe5VtiLqIbrM You can also use this method with the mouth chart in the viewport and keyframe the lip sync that way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4O6nJeHiqiIg6s

Hi David Thanks for the tutorial, Any chance you make a video for other body parts or lip sync for the moving armature? thank you so much!

Thanks for watching! I haven't created a video on the armature option, but I did create one on parenting a 2D mouth to a 3D object. Hopefully, that one will be helpful. You can view it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3KklImnmbVpiqM

Interesting tutorial. Did you do the pencil, ink and fill in one layer i.e head at 1.52
@davidpikedesigns
@davidpikedesigns Жыл бұрын
I did draw everything on one layer in this instance just because I wanted to quickly create the example; however, if I was creating a finished product, I would include the lines on one layer and the fills on another layer. The following two videos show that process. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching! kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2OpqneDmLJgnsk kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKaVfXqdhc6apbc

Thanks for watching! I haven't tried it, but I've seen it. I checked online and it appears that is no longer being developed and isn't compatible with Blender 3.2 and above; however, someone posted a workaround for it. I may look into it. Thanks for suggesting it!

We need auto lipsync in blender like other 2d animation software

I agree! I like to sync mine visually, but there are videos on KZbin that show auto lip syncing, but I haven't tried those methods. Maybe they work really well. I may look into it.
