What I see, I think, is that the corners are not pleated and left open. I suppose I could pleat the corners using the same math as for side pleats or do I treat corners differently? Easy to understand from start to finish. Thanks.

Yes, the corners are open, just pleated. You could see one long piece for all three sides and pleat the corners.
