For those that don't think it looks like a "braided" Irish chain, if you look at the pattern cover itself, it really shows why the designer called it that. I assume you would need to make the larger sizes to get that effect. It is really quite lovely. Thank you Jenny for showing us the ropes on this pattern!

You are right. After reading your comment, I looked at the pattern cover, and it is really very pretty. The patchwork itself is actually easy. But the layout is more complex. A larger size would really make the pattern pop!

It is good to see you following a pattern that someone else wrote. Almost inevitably I have to focus really hard and read patterns over and over, and it is clear that you undertook something you found challenging and persevered. Good on you, Jenny! Also, kudos to the pattern designer for allowing you to share her work with millions. I hope she gets many sales as a result. Question. Do you wash your tutorial (or other) quilts before gifting or selling them? I do, and as a result I am reluctant to use reds. Sometimes they bleed so badly that even a color-catcher sheet doesn’t take care of them. All that work ruined, but at least I know before someone receives the quilt.

The backing amount seems pretty small for this size quilt unless it's supposed to be 108"
@jjudy5869
@jjudy5869 2 ай бұрын
She said the quilt was 88" square, so 88 divided by 36 equals 2.44 yards. So if you are using 108" backing fabric, you would only need, say, 2.5 yards. Of course, if it were me, I'd buy 2 2/3 to 3 yards just to make sure I had enough. I always buy a little extra because I have been known to change the design of a quilt mid-sew-up to something I like even better.
@annouellette2438
@annouellette2438 2 ай бұрын
I did the math. I always cut my backing 8-10” larger that means you need 7.5 yards , you will have leftovers but that is making a backing with2 vertical seams.
