Jere - what a great testament for getting maximum usability from your existing stash of stuff! Re-using tooling for several different tasks makes a whole lot of sense!

Ron. I keep most of my rems. By doing so I quite often can change my design slightly and not have to buy new material nor cut a short piece from a longer piece of stock (that can translate to cheap). Jere

The way you have combined the tooling is very clever indeed. That was a good explanation of how to tighten up the joints on the vice grip, too. Just like you, it makes me feel good to make my won tools. And I always try to only use bits and pieces around the shop the the extent possible. Like you I have little bits and pieces laying around which have their unique history to me too. Somehow it gives me comfort in finding a use for those things every time. Thank you for the knowledge and the ideas, much appreciated

Hi Glenn. If I can change my design slightly (with no sacrifice) and use a piece of scrap, as is, I will do so. I find it saves time and money. Good for you making your own tools. Not enough people have the talent to do so. Jere

Hi Jere, Building with stuff that we have is the way most of us have to do things. I find it much more rewarding than buying every little piece for a project plus I don't usually have the luxury of having the cash to do so. Making things be multi-purpose is smart. Great little tool. I have a set of grips that I will have to do this to. I should have made one when I recently repaired a crushed motorcycle front fender. I wanted to see if I could still do that work without using body fill. It was a rewarding exercise/project and a small bullseye pick woukld have been helpful. Thanks for the series. Have a good one, Joe

Hi Joe. A lot of my "REMS" become tools or are put into a project or become a fixture. Hope you are well. Jere

I enjoy re-purposing something. Makes me feel more "useful" in some way. Thanks, Jere. I appreciate it. Some days are gold. Others are rust. ;) Stay away from any Willits Crud. ;) Joe

Chuck. Thanks. Using something that I already have is worth changing the design slightly. Jere

An anvil is a great tool. I'm always adjusting different vise grips on it. It gets constant use.

The anvil is a mighty use full tool once you learn all the different areas and how they are used. Thanks for watching. Jere

Your method of tightening the jaw slop is worth it all by itself to use on the long reach and deep jaw vise grips regardless if it is a bullseye pick or not.

Hello Kenneth. There are a lot of tools that can be tightened up in some way with this method. Look in your tool box and see which ones could use this remedy. Also you can sometimes tighten up a bolt and nut (tin snips). Thanks for watching. Jere

Another great idea that will be added to the todo list. I’ve gotten so many great ideas from your vids Jere. I love your methodology. I do wish you’d add the option to buy you a cup with PayPal as I don’t use cc’s on the net. Best regards.

Hi Matt. By making the tool versatile you don't have to make a different tool for every job. Thanks. Jere

Thank you for the video. I was under the impression that the jaw arms had to be much wider to get in around say a an edge of roof that is curved a bit. I like the compact design you have and it will do the job great.

Hi Tony. Sometimes that is the case. You could use a long bolt in the lower arm and make the upper anvil as close to the upper arm as possible. If you modify or make a new arm to suit a specific job, be sure to keep the arms as short as you can. Longer arms will reduce accuracy. Good comment. Jere
