Very nice tutorial. It is a lot of prep for sure. It was easy to follow, but I did get a little confused when adding the cord, but I will figure it out. I made another of your totes from the fat square and what a beautiful tote and so easy also. I've had to be careful not to make my boxes too big but everything is a learning experience and with great teachers like you, it makes it easier. Thank you.

I love this project. Thank you so much for the videos! On the cover pieces, I sew them together leaving 2 inches open, fold them down like you do, but I can’t figure out how you get them to stay open on the ends after turning it inside out without ripping the seams open. It’s hard to explain, but I must be missing something. No biggie, though. Also, I just wanted to point out that you can leave an opening in the lining to turn the project inside out at the end after sewing the rim, cover, main bag, and lining all together at the same time. That’s what I did and it seems a bit quicker. 🕺

I love your videos you have such cool gadgets and your imagination is wonderful as far as coming up with new products. I watch your videos on KZbin and a lot of times they are more than just a few months old and when you try to download the pattern it's not available. Is there any way to get access to some of your older patterns? One more question you do a lot of flat bottom bags with the boxed corners and I love that but had you ever thought about cutting out the corner before you start stitching everything so that when you're ready to Box the corners you already have the opening you just need to sew straight across it no measuring involved at that point.

Yes, you absolutely could do your corners like that - we just like showing the boxing method because it's what we prefer but you can totally change it up if you'd like. Love your videos and this tote! I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine at night which requires distilled water. It is rather awkward carrying a gallon of distilled water thru hotels when we travel. I think this cinch top tote would make a perfect cover for the water bottle but I am not sure of the finished size of the tote. Is it possible for you to respond with the dimensions of the tote?

Hi Jen, I have nearly finished this and I love the way you do the tutorial, I am stuck a little on the cover bit, the bit where you fold the sides a quarter and a quarter again then you sew both on both sides, then the bit where you sew the sides together is where it confuses me, Do we sew just after the folded bits where we have sewn an eighth of a inch or do we re-sew where we sewed the folded sides? I want to make some more of these for easter baskets like you suggested.

Thanks for your question Melanie! You will re-sew (stitch in the ditch) where you just sewed that eighth inch on the quarter inch flap. Hopefully that helps clear that up! Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Really nice project but sad to say the presentation was a little hard to follow because she kept going back in sequence when she forgot a step next time, maybe write a script or prompt list and perhaps give each step a number to help yourself. A bit hard with here is a next step oh no wait do this beforehand and to be honest if I couldn’t sew I would struggle to follow it easily maybe. However the bag does look nice and thanks for the share.

Where's the lining to help keep the food chilled so it doesn't spoil people get sick I would have been more grateful to that and measurements as well you didn't say nothing about measurements just do this to just do this very unhelpful

That is a good point, though it was just a suggestion to use this versatile tote for lunches.
