I am an amateur florist - and I never heard of, or thought to use, dry foam! Thank you! It makes the pomander so much lighter! I also use these - in various sizes - at Christmas time for a table scape [minus the ribbon] and set each one on top of a glass candle stick [again in various sizes]. Makes a lovely impression on dinner guests.

Arthur Buckley thank you - yes the dried foam for this use is ideal, for table use I think the wet foam is better. Good suggestion for decorating a dinner table 😀

Hi, what is the name of the Dry Foam you use?

I use an old hairdryer set on low heat to melt away the last of my hot glue cobwebs after I've plucked off the bigger bits . :) Lovely pomander!!

I was amazed that you used dry foam for this. Really interested to see how the stems inserted so well and of course the use of hot glue too. So doing this the evening before a wedding would work well, having misted the flowers with water, and then Crown and Glory. The Pomander is put into a plastic bag which keeps the moisture in. on All good to go the following day. Brilliant! The ribbon tails are lovely, Thank you John

Julie Speer thank you - I thought this would be interesting to show - and I thought it would take longer to make to be honest 😀 yes, definitely okay to make the evening before.

This is very pretty..We make kissing balls this way ..but we use a loop of wire to pull the ribbon through the ball...very nice for a little girl to carry...

This was very interesting. I finally got some wet/green Oasis and arranged some roses in it with a fresh, angled snip of the stem. They lasted really, really well (over ten days) before wilting which was kind of amazing given my usual track record with flowers. I'm interested to try some dry oasis and see what the time-line is for the roses. I actually like the look of air-dried roses (especially saturated colors -- not so much white or pale roses), so I'm interested in seeing how a mixture of dry items with fresh roses ages in the dry/gray Oasis. Thank you for all the really helpful advise and directions. Your skill never ceases to impress.

Jean Vignes thank you - the dried foam works for this because the use is for one special day. That is great you are experimenting 😀

That’s a lovely pomander. Could be done with silks as well. You make quick work of it. How long have you been a Floral Designer May I ask? Anyway, lovely work as always John.

@@FlowerJoos amazing! I love when we are young and are able to find our passions. I've been a landscaper (installing trees, shrubs, masonry, flower gardens...) For 19 years! In the past 3 years I've gotten more interested in floral work. I figure if I like container gardening I would love floral arranging! I just love flowers 🤣 love from Charleston SC!

Emily Anne Souther now that’s something I am getting into - there is a real crossover there. You can grow materials that are great fir floral design, so you get the best of both! Depends on your garden though - I am just starting a new garden so it’s quite exciting. 🌿🍃🍁🍂 all the best to you in Charleston 🙋🏼♂️

Love it ❤️. Is there any reason, you used the dry foam?
@FlowerJoos5 жыл бұрын
aa flowers I think the hot glue works well with the dry foam. I suppose you could use cold glue also. But wet foam soaked would drip and the flowers would be more likely to drop out. Weight wise it has a nice weight with just the flowers 💐

Hi John, it doesn't need wet foam? Can it be made a day before as long as we mist it?
@FlowerJoos3 жыл бұрын
Yes - dry is fine, and if the flowers are well hydrated this is ok made the day before, misted and stored well. I think the dry foam is stronger as well - that’s important with children! 🌼😀

What kind of foam is that??
@FlowerJoos Жыл бұрын
This was dry sec foam, normally used for artificial flowers - it’s ideal to create the base as it is firm and secure. Yes, the heads are not in water, but it is similar to flowers in a corsage 🌼
